#invicta is a different level and category of ornate than everyone else.

Ah...I think they're trying for Paris Hilton's money and her ilk. Good for them, I suppose.

Oops, sorry, I meant Tonda GMT.

You don't appreciate the Van Cleef & Arpels???

From the article you posted:

It houses a complex mechanism that – at the turn of every hour – 166 elements are set into motion. The petals in the garden open in three different sequences for new combinations hourly that indicate the time from one hour to the next. As each flower opens, a diamond  center is revealed. A tiny automaton on the wrist, the 38mm gold watch offers a lateral display of the minutes.

That sounds pretty bloody incredible to me! Some times high horology isn't about making a watch that is going to sell by the bucket load, it's about just going balls-out and making something fabulous and ridiculous and just seeing what's possible. We have enough black dial dive watches in the world.

Another favourite of mine is this beauty from Fabergé, which is another clockwork masterpiece where the tail of the peacock opens to tell the time:

I think, aesthetically, it's a certain kind of person who is going to pull off these kind of watches, and fair play to them.

I'm sure you are not wrong my friend.

Can you imagine the conversation between the undoubtedly massively talented master watchmaker and the design team?

"Yes François, your movement is very nice... but it needs more pink.... and flowers..... and diamonds.... and gold!.. and Sapphires!.... and butterflies! So many butterflies!"

Honestly?  If I had a functionally unlimited budget, I would buy that Van Cleef  for my wife (though given her color palate, the teal version).  Mechanically amazing, it's basically like buying art for the wrist.

I can't think of a quarter million dollar watch I'd want for myself but for her, this 100%

Definitely wrist art for sure. I would be so nervous to wear something like this though. I mean we don't wear paintings around. I feel like watches like this are designed to end up on display in someone's private collection not to be worn at all.

Yeah, of the four watches, I can only see myself wearing the #parmigianifleurierbugatti. It's a very attractive watch and the engineering is awesome!
