Pet peeve no 4

Proportionally too thick. 13+mm is generally OK, but not so good for compact case like this 5kx gmt... haha

The main party trick of the SKX case is the polished underside reflecting your skin tone and making it appear smaller from up top, but it can't hide its thickness when looked at from the sides. It's an iconic design, somehow, but in reality not the greatest wearing experience.

This is why I think Orient did a much better job with their entry level divers. The case is much thinner with elegant chamfered details giving visual interest and the curved lugs make it wear flat on wrist. 👌

I replace all my SKX/SRPD casebacks with this slimmer one that shaves off 1mm under the watch. If you want to give it a try: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EI9bmf1
