Are you satisfied with your 2022 watch acquisition(s)?

The year is over and I‘d like to recapitulate your watch collection journey. Are you satisfied with the watches you acquired and possibly sold again this year? Or do you look back with a stomach ache and feel unsatisfied for any reason?

I myself selected „Hmmmm“ because I’ve just spent too much money on watches this year. I’d wish for myself to be a bit more responsible next year and to make buying a watch something special again, and not a habit. I am 80% content with my current SOTC though and I hope to be able to weed out some watches that get too few hours on my wrist and replace them with some of my grails.

I only bought one watch I'm not 100% happy with this year, but I'm not unhappy with it.

I set out this year to experience as many mainstream watch brands as possible and to complete an enthusiast three watch collection and an entry level luxury three watch collection. I did both with relative success. I bought a couple that didn’t quite fit, but learned something in those misses. All in I acquired eight watches with two meh purchases, but managed to tick off all the boxes with the exception of a chronograph. Now with this portion of my collection complete, I plan to step into higher end luxury, but with a dramatic decrease in quantity.

I'm happy overall. Sure there were some mistakes, but much was learned, and the mistakes can be corrected. The year ended with the arrival of a long awaited grail. 2023 will see a lot fewer, but more focused purchases.

What was the watch and what makes you not 100% satisfied with it?

I bought one watch this year, was gifted one watch, gave away a watch and threw away a watch. My collection is still 11 watches going into 2023. My goal this year is to sell two watches and buy one to get to an even 10. Then it will be very hard to decide what to do from there.

Overall happy. 2022 was the year I bought my first GS and now I have two with a third already on the way.

The only real dud was the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium, the black dial plus grey indices combined with zero AR made it totally illegible most of the time.

I picked up a Vostok Amphibia, a Casio Duro and was given a Citizen EcoDrive when I reclaimed my old Seiko Sportsmatic 5 which was serviced and is now back on my wrist! Along with some NATO straps, I have quite a bit more diversity among my collection now!

Am I satisfied with my watch pickups this year? Absolutely!

It's a Sternglas Naos. It's a great watch, but I bought it after a few beers lol.

I had a really good year for my watch's and the collection development was just about right. Looking forward to a a quieter year in 23. I aim to add maybe one or two but older and more high end pieces if at all possible.

·

This was the year I really dove into collecting. I did buy one or two I don’t love but I’m not bothered by it. They were both about $100 and one still gets a bit of wrist time, the other not so much. I bought several others of good value and I’m pretty happy with my current collection.

·

I voted hmmmm. because I can’t remember everything I bought in 2022. Not that it was a lot but the whole year is sort of a blur

·

Very happy.

I learned some things this year. When I was eight I would eat all of the Fig Newtons in the sleeve. I sometimes take that approach to watches. Bought too many, sold too few, wrote them up here. Not to be repeated.

·

define "satisfied". Closer to the perfect collection? Yes. Happy? Not yet. But I've bought and sold less in the last year than I have in years past so I'm getting closer. That's good, right?

·

I added three this year.

Omega 3861 speedy

Doxa 1500t Searambler

Zelos Hammerhead bronze...

i certainly can't complain.
