It finally came! My first automatic watch is a unique diver that I have been eyeing for at least 2 years now. Perfect timing to arrive right before my birthday as well. ๐๐๐ฐย
I am trilled with this purchase as it came with a bunch of straps, and a swapped bezel that make this whole package quirky and fun. I plan to put it through all my water sport activities, and give a review in 6 months or so.ย

My first automatic since I started collecting was
Exactly! ๐ป I wanted to dip my toe in the automatic world, and this it seems the G-Shock of automatic watches in that it is affordable, rugged, and unique. So far....I am loving it. ๐
Cheers @Gary87 !
Congratulations. Trust me this wonโt be your last one.

๐คฃ Probably not...the 710 series are a very tempting proposition. Cheers. ๐ป
Nice, my first automatic was a no-date Scuba Dude which I modded with a smooth bezel and a mesh strap. I dont wear it often but it is something I really like and probably should make the effort to use more!
My Vostok Amphibia was my first automatic watch too.ย
My first dive watch was the amphibia. Love the thing. Congrats! Enjoy the journey.ย
Looks great
One thing that strikes me as unusual about that particular scubadude dial is the direction the 'dude is swimming. All the dials that I can remember where the 'dude is a feature has him swimming toward the left side. I do not claim to have seen every scubadude dial ever made but this is something that stood out to me in the picture.

Super nice choice, I was looking for this or similar white dial originally and then perhaps replace the back with the Antarctica caseback...but in the end, my orange/black one stole my heart. Cheers!

that case back is a beauty!

Same! All the YouTube reviews and ones on Amazon have the scubadude with head up, and swimming to the left, so I thought this was striking. Your comment made me curious, and looking through some websites, it seems that there are four variants.
1) Classic Scubadude - swimming to the left with head up (usually with date window at 3 o'clock)
2) "New" Scubadude - swimming to the left with head down (usually no date)
3) Scubadude - Swimming the right (usually with date at 6 o'clock)
4) Cosmodiver (I only found this one)
I wish I knew the history a bit more clearly as to when the changes came and went, although it seems that the "Classic" scubadude was available during the Cold War in the USSR.

It's incredibly durable, I've taken it on a lot of trips and bashed it around. Almost a GShock in its durability.

Nice bit of watch nerd research there.
I have a fondness for some of the russian creative dial designs like the cosmodiver ("lunardude"? "cosmodude"?) and russian space themed watches in general. One day I may save up enough rubles to buy some version of a Raketa Kopernik.
Found this Amphibia 170548-02 and it came with a very unique alternate bezel which I really like. Set on a Marine National Strap, looks killer. Has spectacular lume too!

Wow, no kidding on that lume...it looks great! The 170 and 710 cases were perhaps my first love on photos, but something about the black and orange scuba dude spoke to me for my choose. I hope to get a cushion case one perhaps one day, and this 12-3-6-9 combo with no date is very clean. Congrats and enjoy!

Indeed, I loved looking at those Scuba Dude watches, they are particularly nice! It was a difficult decision not to get one when I chose mine.
