TAG Heuer Superdiver

TAG has been on a roll with recent releases from the Dark Lord and purple Monaco’s to the Aquaracer Solargraph.

A little less hype has been paid to the Superdiver until the recent Time & Tide review. This is a big boy at 45 x 52.3 x 16.1mm but with Ti case and 1000m water resistance it’s a small price. Not that anyone who buys this will take it further than the deep end of the Marriott pool... but you could.

I know, “small watches or shut the F up”. It’s still an interesting package with a new Kenissi COSC movement and overall beefy Aquaracer vibe.

If I weren’t so offended you brought up a huuuuuge watch I’d say it looks good. I haven’t been drawn to TAG enough to buy, but they still make some stuff I’d think about. Not this of course, it’s colossal beyond belief. We could put one in orbit, it should block enough sunlight to reverse global warming. But still, it looks good.
Even though it’s the size of a VW Beetle.  It probably has its own gravity well. If you wore this, small objects would go into orbit around your wrist.

That's a really cool watch. I'd put that on in a second. Better looking than that new Breitling.

Agree. Looks cool and for my $$ many worse things to wear.

That is a fantastic looking watch!  That 12-sided bezel is really cool - I applaud them for doing something different with dive watch looks!

Yeah the bezel angles and matte ceramic make it dark and broody and I dig it. We'll see if they move this design to smaller package and continue to push the Kenissi movements to others as well.

Credit where it's due...to Kenissi in this case.  They seem to really be gunning for what used to be the higher-end playground for ETA movements - Tudor, TAG, Fortis, etc.  Startups like Norqain are turning to them too.  I wonder if Sellita is upset about Kenissi eating its high-end lunch.

I think it's super slick! I love the angular design. Kinda reminds me of the Telstar satellite.

I noticed the comment about the "Solargraph" and thought it was also an interesting move in movements...  Then I found out it's basically a Luminox with an in-house Eco-Drive movement - for 6 times the price.  With a carbon case - and case back, it kind of looks like a Moonswatch. 😂

Now, if it were a high-precision movement like the one in Citizen's Chronomaster, it would be more compelling, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

That said, the Kenissi COSC movement helps make the case for the Superdiver's...wait, what?...$6.7k price.  It will be interesting to see what other players do with this movement.

Let’s see, $6650 (Web) for a watch that doesn’t have a manufacture movement? There are lots more watches out there for less money that have a manufacture movement. This one will not be on my list.

Now if the price were sub $5k it might find a place on my list, albeit in the lower portion.

Good point. They're slowly pushing Sellita and ETA to lower ends unless they can beef up power reserves, etc.

Don't disagree with the price. I'd rather a Heuer 02 chrono for that money. Similar movement in Ti with smaller dimensions in a Pelagos... but lower brand pricing with Tudor than TAG.

It's a pretty big deal for TH to come out with a 1000m diver, the last one they had was years and years ago.

I think that it's less of an issue for ETA, since they've essentially abandoned producing movements for companies outside the Swatch group -- and the Swatch group is exclusively using ETA movements anyway.

Love this watch! TAG often gets little live but it's a brand I actually like. Cheers for making something unique and COSC certified

·

Considering the 1000m rating it’s not really that huge and wears well on most wrists.  I like this line a lot.

·

I think it's awesome.  Big dive watches are on a lot of wrists. The depth rating doesn't happen without a serious case. I love divers. I want to see one in person. I'd wear it in a heartbeat

Same, I’d like to see and feel it in person. Then I’d have explaining to do to my wife…

Watches fall under the "Hunting Dog. Harley & Tattoo " category of being a husband.  You just show up with it and say "Look what we got!"
