The fact you’re thinking about savings means you’re probably ahead of most 20 year olds, certainly my 20 year old self.
Look back at your past spending to get some rough monthly numbers. Every month is different so it doesn’t need to be exact. Next set a realistic amount that you will save every month. Then set up a standing order into a savings account on pay day and let it run.
Lump sums (pay rises, bonuses) and investments have made the biggest difference for me but consistently saving what you can afford supplements that. Be patient though, it takes time.
I’ve had a Datejust 41 smooth bezel jubilee for a year or so now and it’s held up very well. No major scratches or dings. The polished clasp has a few noticeable scratches though.
If you get a watch with a lot of polish it’s kind of what you sign up for. I thought it would annoy me but I love the watch when I wear it so it doesn’t in the slightest.
Good luck deciding. It’s a great watch so you can’t go wrong whatever you choose.
For London, Bond street is good for ADs plus the watch room in Selfridges is fun to walk round and try some on. The Cartier boutique on Bond St is an amazing building with lots of history so is worth a walkthrough if nothing else.
