OSLO Watch Meet, short story

Last weekend, Feb. 4th, my friends Ole, @jesperado and I attended our first watch meet. It was fun! Geeky, but very much as expected.

We attended with the intention of trying as many nice watches as possible. In these types of situations I often forget to take photos, but I caught some of the best, I think.

Starting with the Datejust ref. 126333 in yellow gold and stainless steel. This one is a classic, and one many considers as a one-watch watch collection, it fits all occasions! Personally I think the 41mm Rolexes are a bit to big for my taste, even though it fits my wrist.

I am not denying it's beauty, only it's price. The guy told me I could get it for a low-low price of 190k NOK, which is roughly €17k, great!

After wandering about, looking, admiring different watches, I saw this, and I just had to try it. The Omega Seamaster Automatic ref. 14701 from the late 50's to early 60's, wIth a near-perfect size of 34mm.

This is a watch I've ALWAYS wanted. When I say always I mean since a guy came into the store I work in to check on his watch, that had been laying in a drawer for 20 years. I said "Sure! I'll take a look." (It didn't run, or so he thought.) At first I thought that this must be a fake, upon winding it up it kicked up almost immediately; I began to realise. I opened the watch back, only because I could, and there it was;

The Omega 286; what. a. beaut. I quickly reinstalled the case back now knowing the value I had to protect, and got to polishing the crystal. The model the customer came in with is a Seamaster 30, but I couldn't find the ref..

Anyways; the Gread White, triple six with Spider dial. 16660.

What a piece! Jesus. Kinda couldn't believe it at first, but it was true! My friend @jesperado absolutely adores the "double red", this being a strong 2nd place. We had to try it out; and it fit way to good! An absolute dream.

Last one is my personal favourite, I think;

The Rolex Milgauss 116400, with the beautiful, white dial.

I tried this on two separate times. I absolutely love this piece. The owner of this was apparently looking actively for 6-7 months, before finally finding one for sale. He wanted to buy F2F, which if fair. The Milgauss looks fairly big here, as opposed to in real life, because of the ultra-wide shot.

Being 11-17k on Chrono24, it surely is a goal for later on in life.

Thanks for reading, have a good one ;)

Thank you for the post! I really like the Seamaster the most out of them all. I love the silver simplicity! The Milgauss though is fantastic though and criminally underrated. Hope you get yours soon. Cheers! 🍻
