My son is on a business trip in Istanbul, Turkey and spotted these fake Pateks for sale. Knowing his Pateks, he said, “You can tell by the movement, polish and feel, they were not real.” He said they want $1000 USD for each fake. As he travels around the world, he is always sending me photos of watches he comes across.
I'd hate to be held up at knife or gun point for a fake Tiffany Blue Patek 😮
ps I was going to say the Tiffany Blue wasn't a very good copy as there was a mark on the dial. Turns out it was a crumb on my monitor 😀

Exactly. Is bad enough you pretty much spent/wasted 1k for a watch with no warranty, no QC. The cherry on top is getting pistol whipped for a fake and having your hospital bill be more than the cost of the watch.

I know that shouldn't have made me laugh.....but it did.
I wanna find a Patek store or dealer just so I could try a Nautilus on. That H-link it’s on looks like it would feel very comfortable

There was a post on r/RepTime about an instance where a guy got mugged in the Bronx ( he lived there) of his kicks and his fake Cartier. It’s why I always say that people should treat their knockoff Rolexes as the real deal when in less great parts of town
I been to Turkey this past summer. Walked past a shop selling fake watches. He wanted $450 for a Fatek Philippe. I said no. Then as I walked out the store, he said “350$, Oh come on, $300, Ohh comeon, 250$ I gotta eat!!”
I wasn’t trying to negotiate. I was just trying to get outta his store cuz these aren’t real.
Then another store owner asked if my Rolex Sub was real. I said yeah its real. Then he said “Can I see it?” THEN I was alerted by the fact that this guy could swap my watch for a fake one. I said “HELL NO, I ain’t taking my watch off my wrist”. He goes “I want to offer you $10 grand for this watch.” I said “Sorry, nah”
It’s easy to get swayed to buy a fake or a super fake while taking a stroll around the Grand Bazaar when you’re literally surrounded by relatively well-made fakes of the most desirable watches out there. But it’s a good idea to stop and think of how much are you really going to wear a watch that you know is a fake, and if it’s worth to be assaulted on the street for a fake watch.

Did you happen to see the groups of men walking about that look like their heads have been scraped along pavements?

No I haven't.
No I haven't.
It sounds a bit mad I know but that's all I saw in the 2 days I was there. Groups of men that looked like they'd all suffered head injuries. It was only when the girl at the hotel told me that Istanbul is the world capital for hair transplants that it all made sense 😀
