You can find nice stuff under $1k. The only thing with older watches is they tend to be smaller. The one in my picture above is about 34mm, as is this one on Crono24 for $632
I anticipate second hand being the issue here. Without spending thousands I can’t see being positive how the second hand will line up with the markers.
For instance, I’m wearing this right now
But have no idea if the seconds hand lines up enough to suit somebody else.
