Safety Tips For Rolex & Other Luxury Watch Owners

Good evening Crunchers. Most of this stuff is common sense but this is for anyone who wants to get into Rolex or any luxury watches and wears them in public often.

Have at it in the comments馃槵馃憤

Step 1. Get a Casio.

Step 2. Live life free of worry.

Two of his tips involve taking your watch off if you feel unsafe(?!) This is insane. If I'm looking to mug someone's Rolex and they go through all the heavy lifting of unclasping it and removing it from their body, it's Christmas for me. You've just done the hardest, most time consuming part of my mugging for me.

Yeah I tried to skim though it. Later in the video I think he just says like be aware and stuff. 馃槄

I had the same exact thought. Taking your watch off also seems entirely incompatible with "don't look like a victim".

Watch robbers are the best. They just come right up to you without any luring required. It's like an all-you-can-eat buffet for FREE馃憣

In all seriousness, common sense rules all.

Just actually be observant. Most predators, two legged - four legged are ambush predators. Observant prey is too much work.

Cooperate, run, stay in public places.

And no watch is worth your life.

Should I feel actual lives (others or myself) are threatened I have options, even in places/locations where my carry options aren't allowed.

YMMV.

Also don't be afraid to GET LOUD. Someone says, "Hey let me see that watch," say, "THANKS MAN I GOT IT AS A GIFT. SORRY I GOTTA KEEP MOVING." Criminals are looking for an easy grab. So anything to make it complicated for them makes it more likely for them to pick someone else (i.e. "don't be a soft target")

This dude in the video is all wrapped up in feeling like a super-spy and he's giving advice he hasn't really given enough thought to. Why would you put your Rolex in your wife's handbag? That's 1000x easier to steal. Good lord.

I've worn expensive watches in London for years, but if I'm going to be in a dark place where I can't control my surroundings, or where it's busy, then I don't wear one. Common sense really.

But then I don't wear Rolex or Omega, or gold watches, and nobody knows any other brands so I'm probably ok with a subtle VC. Also I'm 6'2" with broad shoulders so they'd look past me for an easier mark.

Lol, I'd agree with this too.

Being LOUD when in a public space and playing ignorant goes a long way.

Knife/machete/gun/club/whatever seem to come out and play in more discreet areas, like alleyways, park tunnels at dusk, etc.

Which when in an urban environ, why go there, unless you belong?
