If I designed the Seiko Gundam - Seiko Samurai GMT Mod

Hi all,

I finally got my hands on two things I've wanted for a while: a Samurai case and an NH34 Movement. I decided to take this opportunity to build my interpretation of a Seiko Gundam LE.

Seiko released a Gundam LE a few years ago for the 40th anniversary of the franchise, but it's hard to find and too expensive for me anyway!

For my version, I couldn't think of a better case to portray a giant sword-wielding mech than the Samurai case, with its rugged edges and large size. Then I picked parts to match the classic color combo of white, blue, and red with yellow accents. I chose an aluminum bezel for metallic sheen, and bent the clickspring to convert to a 60-click bezel instead of 120.

Here is my build next to my model of Gundam Exia, the lead mech from Gundam 00!

For kicks, I also added a blue rotor. Just for fun!

Overall, I'm quite pleased with how this watch turned out! I am short on 22mm straps at the moment, but I predict some new ones will find their way onto this watch soon.

See, this right here is what's wrong with Seiko.  You, an amateur watch maker (no offense) just made a better-looking watch than Seiko.  They've got an R&D budget of eleventy billion dollars, and they still insist on putting a power reserve on the dial.  Like that's something you need constant access to.  Admittedly, their bezel insert looks great, but still.  All that money and some guy off the street (seriously, I mean no offense, I'm just trying to make a point) can do it better right off the top of his head.  Well done.

EDIT: BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHHHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!

THAT SEIKO COSTS LIKE $8000!!!!!  WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??

But seriously, I hope you made a few of these and are selling them for at least $5000.

I wish I could claim more design credit, but I just buy pre-designed parts from mod suppliers and put them together. I'm glad you like it tho!

And if you want to send me $5k, this watch could definitely be yours!

Hahaha, seems like Gundam was French all along!

Ah, Seiko. Say what you will but they do make some bitchin' watches. Though there are still a couple of Char and Zaku Tunas floating around in Malaysia.

Yeah, I'm honestly a fan of most of their LE's, just not enough to buy any.
