Tried all the Serica 6190: all amazing

I also had the opportunity to try the 6190 series just yesterday.

While the new MSL ones are fantastic, I surprised myself in preferring the classic ones.

I guess, but I am not sure, that鈥檚 because the classic dials are more in the spirit of tool, rugged watch. They have more legibility. The new ones look more abstract and dressy to me.

I think I am going towards the california dial for its good compromise between legibility and uniqueness.

But the explorer is the best for my taste, and the arabic indices is the most legible and classic.

In any case, what a difficult choice ! All amazing !

Cali dial 馃敟

I'd go Cali dial too, but probably one of the Chinese clones as these have had trouble with the movements (Soprod? It's pretty well documented & I'm usually anti-clomage) and the reviews said the IX&DAO are better quality.

I would certainly not buy a cheap copy.

It represents all what I hate in globalised consumerism.

Permit me to doubt that they are of better quality (I see what review you are talking about, I have no reason to trust this random guy more than an established brand). I trust more a Swiss caliber than a Chinese one, and I appreciate that only the case and the bracelet are made in Asia. All other parts and assembly are made in Europe.

Anyway I don't give my money to cheaters, I give my money to people who work, create and take risks. The cloners should be sued, not encouraged.

You don't like the brand or the price? Then don't buy it, just find another brand, but do not buy a Chinese clone, this is a shame.

Regarding the movement, it's just a lot of noise for nothing much. The movements have always worked well and some of the early releases had a problem with hacking seconds, not always hacking. I agree that it's an issue, but such a small one... Just a couple of Youtubers made FUD out of it, to grab audience.

A new brand has to learn from such experiences, that's a risk to accept. Moreover, it has been fixed a long time ago, and it's tiring to see people persisting in reminding this episode.

The silent majority of owners is very happy with these watches.

I have the previous not-cosc-certified version of the commando (all numerals, with mine having extra 13 - 24 hour markings) and I just love this watch. I bought and tried on a few different ones after that, but I only wear this one. The quality is really great, and after wearing the bonklip bracelet I don't like other kind of bracelets anymore :D looking right now for another watch, and even if I have mine from Serica, I'm still thinking of getting the 3 6 9 12 Version, although I am a little hesitant that I could find the numerals a bit too small for my liking. I should plan a trip to Paris to try them all on, as the new models look also really great. I think you can't go wrong with them, and even if I understand that the soprod tragedy left a "sour" taste in the mouth of a few people, I doesn't bother me, as they don't use this problem movement in any of their watches anymore.

Go California or go home!

I have two watches with Soprod movements, they've both been rock solid and accurate. I wouldn't worry about it.

Excellent reply, thanks.

I agree completely on clones and do like the design a lot, especially the Cali dial.

I pretty much wrote the brand off after watching the reviews and I wouldn't buy a clone myself (check my previous posts on clomage's) but I pointed out what I believed was a fault (based on my incorrect knowledge) & a cheaper alternative.

My advice was wrong & I apologise, but more to the point I'll now reconsider one myself.

You are welcome ! I am glad and relieved to see we agree and you are in the same side regarding clones.

Heretical

I was at the shop yesterday. A small but nice place. The welcoming was excellent, simple and friendly.

You will like it !

I had a pleasure to try the watches and also the straps and leather goods from Joseph Bonnie are excellent.

Totally agree about the Bonklip bracelet, that鈥檚 one the main incentives I have to buy the watch.

Note that they are going to sell separately soon a S size soon (appeared with the MSL), which will fit better my small wrist.

And for those who wonder, I have the cheap Bonklip from AliExpress. There is no comparison : the one from Serica is better in everything : better finish, cannot scratch the lugs, thicker and the clasp is much better and nicer.

I normally don't like California dials but this is one of the ones I really like. I'd go Cali here.
