Mission to the Moon Swatch X Omega Moonswatch

Ok, so first the ridiculousness:

Yes, I flew from Australia to Las Vegas for the express purpose of obtaining a MoonSwatch.

Of course I used the rest of the time for a holiday, gambled, (won back the price of the watch at the blackjack table♥️♣️♦️♠️), ate far too much etc etc.)

I arrived at the Swatch store at New York New York Hotel and Casino at 11.00AM having done some intelligence gathering via Reddit (apparently 11-13.00PM has seen the most success for people) and was served by the most wonderful Abigail who said they only had Mission to the Moon - fortunate as this is really the only model I wanted - I mean why wouldn't you get the one closest to the original.

Promptly paid, Abigail ran through the warranty info, wished me good day, and handed over a swatch bag and I skipped out of the store happy to have obtained a MoonSwatch and joined the hype train 🚂.

Cut to five minutes later having lunch and I open the bag...

There are two boxes in the bag.

Two - both Mission to the Moon. I have inadvertantly done a buy 1 get 1 free! I checked the receipt. Yup charged for one. But I have two!

And so, the greatest moral problem I have ever faced emerges. Do I keep the second Mission to the Moon? Can I flip it on eBay for a tasty profit? Should I keep it for the purpose of being obnoxious and wear both, double wristing MoonSwatch excess?

Should I take it back and maybe prevent someone from loosing their job (or at least being outta pocket)?

Of course I took it back. The Karma implications were clear - especially since I was in Vegas, and as noted, won my money back a day later. Abigail was incredibly grateful and I turned down the offer of a free $50 Swatch for my honesty.

If you are in Vegas I cannot recommend the New York, New York Store more!

Second - the review.

Meh.

I mean, apart from the hype train goodness, it is light, almost imperceptible in the wrist which I appreciate. But it is plastic (bioceramic) and feels a lot cheaper than the $200 something paid.

I hate the strap. Velcro sux. As soon as I get home it's going on a NATO. The Chrono/timer is accurate I guess?

Don't get me wrong, as a Collab between Swatch and Omega it's a winner and a collectable and I'm glad to add it to my collection. I even dig the attention - three separate people at LAX stopped to ask if it was the MoonSwatch, but as a watch, middling at best.

Unfortunately I think the real reason Swatch has done this has got me...

I'm now on the hunt for a legit Omega Speedmaster.

Thanks for the review and the story. Glad it’s worked out well for you.

‘Passing it on’ does nothing but promote goodness in your fellow humans! Enjoy your watch in the best of health for you and your loved ones!

Whatever you do, don't go to an omega AD and try on the current moonwatch(that bracelet is a 😘), until you are ready to buy on the spot... it has only made the itch itchier. 😠

·

I have and older Swatch Irony stainless that I enjoy but the moonswatch just isn't my gig. I was trolling through the local Craigslist and saw one for $400!!

Thumbs up for taking it back 👍  Here's to Karma 🍻

I assume that you meant to include the words "more highly" in your recommendation:

If you are in Vegas I cannot recommend the New York, New York Store!

Good catch! Shouldn't be writing reviews after 15 hour flights 😜

Credit to you for being honest and you have saved that employee a great deal of hassle, and you were rewarded with a win on the tables so you got a 'free watch' so karma came good for you. Its a shame about the strap because to me it looks awesome, just wish they'd put the omega on the other side of it.

I was lined up that first day for about 30 minutes - then decided it was all too silly to line up for.  By the time I’d gotten home a feeling of thankfulness washed over me - thank goodness I didn’t spend money on a plastic swatch.  I hate plastic.
I‘d have broken it or got water in it inside of a few months.

So, I‘d suggest selling it while it’s nice and new, then save up for the real thing..

..And kudos for not keeping 2 🤘

Great story and post! Seems you were generous in your final scoring given "meh" as your first impression?

Don't get me wrong - it does its job exceptionally well i.e., keeping time, and it looks good now I have it on a NATO strap (I hate valcro so much!) I just don't think the price is acceptable for plastic (I mean bioceramic) and the hypetrain 🚂 just makes it worse. 😜
