a watch build for my brother’s 21st!

This was a completed project for my brother’s 21st birthday!

I sourced for the parts online and found a nice combination of an A. Lange and Sohne inspired Roman numeral dial and heat-blued dauphine hands!

I encased a Miyota 8215 automatic movement (with an engraved rotor) in a stainless steel case that looks remarkably like a Richard Lange series. I had the case back engraved as well!

Placed it on a simple brown genuine leather strap (nothing too fancy, I was still a broke student with limited budget)

All in all, this build cost me just shy $150 from start to end!
was a great learning experience!

That is impressive.  Well done.

Thank you! :) I don’t have a whole lot of watch nerd pals in my social circles to share my builds with so hearing from fellow watch nerds is always heartening :)

It is part of the hobby that I am getting more interested in, if nothing else, to be able to resurrect vintage pieces.  My eyes aren't what they used to be and my fine motor reflexes are almost comically bad.  There are lots of modders here.  You should get to know them.

I hope to meet them too! And I started off with really shaky hands too, they still are haha, but I’m slowly getting a bit more steady with practice 😬
