Blue Dial Dress Watch Recommendation?

Hi all,

I own several blue dial pieces (diver style) but am looking for a thin, comfortable dressier and/or vintage style watch with a blue dial.

Thinking look & feel of Glashutte Original Sixties…even IWC pilots but with lower price range 1,000  to 3,000.

I have owned several Aquaterra’s… not really what I want.  Considered Grand Seiko but hard to keep in budget. Prefer Auto or handwound movement.

I have a 6.3 inch wrist and prefer to keep the case size in the 36 to 38mm range…

*Posted a pic of my 39mm Dive style Tudor BB39 (which i love) for reference (wrist size).

Any suggestions?
thx!

Way under budget, but what about the Timex Marlin?  $199 at, of all places, Walmart.

Got a 6.5" wrist and picked up the watch on your picture a few days ago, after much debate on whether I should go 38 instead of 39, etc. It became clear when I tried it on, it wears like a subdued 39mm, very discreet on my wrist, which I love.

Go try it on if you can, you may be surprised.

Possibility! I love the retro vibe.

I prob shouldn’t have posted that pic.  I love my Tudor BB 39 but am also looking for a dressier option.

This is from Longines Master Collection, ref L2.909.4.92.0. It’s 40mm so maybe to large for you. Well within the budget though.

Or in 34mm with ”diamonds”. It’s in the upper limit of your budget.

Spirit 37 blue dial. I have the champagne dial. It's really nice!

I was looking at those but yes, worried about case size...dress watches tend to wear larger IMO due to lack of bezel, ie) Nomos, etc...

I will wear a 39-40mm case in a dive/tool watch but tend to go smaller with dressier pieces.

Here’s a thread from last year that you mind find useful.

The Aqua Terra 34 with a blue dial is one of my favorites and there’s also the 38mm option.

Haaaa sorry, I just saw that you mentioned the AQ! My fingers are moving faster than my brain.

Since you mentioned Grand Seiko, have you considered their SBGX lineup? the 265 is 37 mm. It is a quartz, but it is a pretty freaking neat quartz.
Good luck.

Check out the Baltic MR01 Blue roulette

The Spirit 37mm seems to be an obvious choice here. Also, I know it’s Quartz, and 40mm, but this Grand Seiko is incredible

What about the Black Bay 36?

i’m hoping 2023 will be the year where Tudor releases a new version with in-house mouvement and new bracelet 🤞🏻

Love that blue dial bb58 have one as well.

·

For the lower end, it's nearly impossible to beat the Baltic HMS. Vintage inspired sector dial at a great pricepoint. There's also a chrono version as well.

You beat me to it but the Nomos Ahoi Atlantic (the one you posted) would be my recommendation also.

A bit off the beaten path, but if you are open to HAQ:

37x44x10, nice blue, JDM only. Yes, quartz, but a really interesting movement with cool tech (solar, +/- 5s per year, perpetual calendar, jumping hour hand).

I really like @redwood ’s suggestion. As a fellow watch collector with small wrists another one I really like are from the jlc ultrathin collection https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us-en/watches/master-ultra-thin/master-ultra-thin-moon-stainless-steel-q1368480

Love this one; always have but looking to pay less since it will get less wrist time.

Fair enough, I’d probably look to longines, some good ones were mentioned above. They have a lot of blue dress watches  between 34-38mm for 1/5th of jlc

Love that JLC tho... don’t tempt me! 😉

·

Also Wempe Iron Walker 36. And maybe a Breitling Chronomat 36 just above the top end of your range preowned/grey market.

·

I’ve been interested in some of Wempe’s pieces.  Quality okay?

·

I’ve never held one in person. Just considered it when looking for a blue dialed watch. (Wound up getting the Citizen mentioned above instead.)
