3 Kurono Tokyo watches were on deck at the Christie's online auction ended today. it is quite interesting that the final prices are in the reverse order of the list prices. Mori was listed at $1700, Grand Akane $3171 and Chrono 2 $4000. Do you know why?

If we look at the estimates, the experts certainly put the Chrono 2 at the highest range.

Green Kurono for $11,250 + buyers premium??  For $11,250 you could buy a Rolex OP 36 in green (full set on a bracelet) right now, literally dozens listed right now on Chrono24.  While that's arguably a crazy price for the Rolex, which one--the Rolex or this Kurono--will hold that value in 3 years???

$11,250 is the full price including buyer's premium I believe.  Mori is a one-time, 288-piece limited production which was nominated in 2020 GPHG.  Rolex OP 36 is an unlimited production. It is all about rarity and supply/demand, I guess.

Am I missing something? Isn't the green one the same one as this listing on Chrono24, for $5,520 USD.

yes, it is the same one.  I guess one takeaway is that right now auction is the best place to sell watches.  Not just this watch, but many other watches have fetched great prices through auctions.

$11k? Surprised they didn’t call it “Tiffany Green”! Good grief …

The green Mori is probably one of the best green dial watches ever created, the Miyota movement is dependable and reliable but nothing special, it is a Japanese clone of the eta 2824. The watch to me is worth the price originally sold for and maybe a few hundred more but maintaining its high price is how well the brand Kurono remains popular with collectors and if then continues with its current marketing scheme of producing a limited release two times a year in small batches. The watches are no doubt the great quality and produced by the Precision watch company, who makes watches for other independent watchmakers I think Precision has even in the past made watch cases for Grand Seiko. I own the Kurono Toki and it is a beautiful watch the dial color is spectacular and it is right up there with my Rolex, Omega, and Jeager LeCoultre
