If I could only have one watch - which one would you chose?
Today it's big against small, in multiple ways
Casio Duro
45mm of super affordable toolwatch from a beloved big brand
or
Smiths Expedition
36mm of practical beauty from a microbrand with questionable service anecdotes
Choose wisely!
I already have 1 the Casio Duro or Marlin (if you still have that version). At first I thought oh it’s a little bulky and heavy, but I was wrong it’s great.

I too find it quite wearable because it's thin and lightweight. 👍
The Casio Duro is simply too large for me.
Although I really like the Duro aesthetic, it is too big for me, so even though I don't really like how the Smiths Expedition looks, I would still choose it over a Duro.
I wish Casio would release a 38mm or 40mm Duro.
They should really do a 40mm version. Durolito? Mini-Marlin?
Nope. Neither.

Wouldn't use the term mini personally. It would only be a bit smaller. Duro 40 would be a cool, although basic, name. Regardless, a 40 mm Duro would be sweet.
Even though the Duro has the superior movement, size, color, and numeric indices favor the Expedition.
The Smiths for me... but God forbid I ever get reduced to owning one watch! The Expedition in this case seems a more friendly, versatile and physically-forgiving watch over the long term.
I was thinking really, really long. Casio looks really nice, especially with your photo talent. I'm not a huge fan of Smith as a brand, but in the end size and overall dial design prevailed and pushed my vote to Expedition
The Duro. I have one. I'm with @chronotriggered on the modern Smiths. No and again No!
While I like and own the Duro, I would not want it as my only watch.
Smiths, secondhand.
Duro. Or a San Martin homage, whatever it takes to be as physically far away from Smiths.
I’d go with the oil-filled Duro with AliExpress jubilee bracelet and milled-clasp with a date magnifier.
