I could collect those two watchmodels only and be happy for a lifetime

Hi Watchfam! Hope you' re all doing well.

Today i want to highlight my two favorite watch models in the afordable market.

I'am a fan of Gerald Genta, i like the mythos and his story, not all designes though, but still most of them. And i have loved them even before the hype. The AP Royal Oak is one of my favorite watches ever and it pushed my fascination for watches where it is today.

Would i ever buy one? Probably not. I don't want to play the grey market game and the chances getting it for MSRP are 0. Also i would prefer any A.Lange und Söhne for the pricetag of the AP. But that's not todays topic. Since i was talking about AP Royal Oaks, i would like to talk about 1 to 1 homages, because there are not for me. I wanted to buy a homage watch a few times but it never went further and i am really happy about it, because it is just not the right kind of watch for me personally.

What i like though are simularities to other watches or indentical designkeys and features.

And that's why i want to talk about the Casioak ,again and the PRX ,again. They simply are my favorite two watchmodels in the sub 1000 bucks-afordable to entry luxury market. They make me happy and i could have a simple and happy life if i just would collect Casioaks and PRXs and that would be it. But that's not how watch obsession works, right?

So lets talk about the Casiok. It is just cool, the caseshape is perfect and it is the most wearable and the thinest g-shock in the entire gshock line up. It is clearly still a g-shock, tough, can take a beating but it is still so veresatile and it fits even smaller wrists, without looking ridicilous. It was my first g-shock and it was and still is really special to me. Back then i did not have much money and a 100€ g-shock was really something to get exited about and it still is. The finish is perfect even under the microscope and it is availible and in comparisson to the rest of the watch market it is a really afordable watch as well. Everyone who wants one can get one. Casio+G-shock = afordable perfection or to say it in the words of Nico Leonard:"GOD TIER!" And i did not even talk about the model varitions yet. Honestly i stopped counting, it feels like they release a new one everyday since it was introduced. You can get in with oldschool quarz or with nerdy(just kidding, i also have one) bluetooth and solar features, in steel, in resin, with a steel bracelet, strap or even a nato. The colour scema is nearly endless, honestly name me a colour variation they don't produce (YET!) and even if it is already colourful they hide some details in different colours, which is absolutly fantastic and shows a high attention to detail. Is it a hommage? No it is not. Maybe it was inspired by something, woundering what it could be🤔, but you can surely see the elephant in the room miroving in it if you want to. But that's up to you and only you.I think i made a point, why i love the Casioak so much.

So lets look at the PRXs shall we. In my eyes it is the best and most likely the only integrated bracelett watch offering you so much for the price. The finish is magnificent. Brushed and polished surfaces showcasing a lovely atenttion to detail here, too. It feels more premium then the money might sugesst and it is my most complimented watch. It is also the watch i recomend the most and everybody i recomended it to is very happy with it. I love wearing it, normally i am not a bracelett guy at all, but this one is different and the PRXs are my only watches on the bracelett i can not say no to. I guess that speaks for the wearing experience and the quality of the watch, so much in fact that i sometimes have to convince myself to not wearing it, since i try to change watches every day to fully enjoy my collection. But i tell you, with the PRX it is sometimes a dificult challenge. The dials and handsets are also looking great and have the Tissot typical quality. And the green waffle dial is a real stunner. Movementwhise it is great as well equiped with the Powermaitc 80,the swatch group workehorse, which can be serviced and regulated- so @Max get your facts right😉 or with a solid and reliable ETA quarz movement. So nothing bad to say here. Same question here again is it a hommage? No, in my opinon it is not. It is obvious how the waffle dial idea came up, touche. Okay maybe it is the reissue of a hommage back from the 70s and 80s. But ladies and gentleman let's be honest. Nearly everybody produced something with a integrated bracelett and AP vibe back then. So at least they had their own original modell back then and brought it back in a modern way and it is great. Yes it is also close to a rolex oyster quarz- fair play on that. But there are some importanted differences as well -the handset, the clasp, the bracelett finish, the casesize, finish and polshing. So again: Is it a homage? Still No. For me it is different enough to go under the inspired categorie, maybe also heavily inspired but it is not trying to be something it is not and is definitevly not a 1 to 1 copy of anything.

Just great watches, both of them.

What do you think? Do you agree?

What are your favorite watch models?

Let me know, Cheers!🥂

Zen and harmony flow when the collector knows what they want, and what they do not. Sounds like you are on the right path to me.
