Axios Tribune

Working on a review of the upcoming Axios Tribune.   It's an interesting watch.  What's your take on it?

I am not trying to be snarky. I can't find this watch on their own website. A Google search turns up nothing.

This is too much inside baseball for me. Please provide a link. Otherwise the only opinion that I can have is what I can derive from the photo above.

I suspect opinions based on the photo were the point.

I like the look of the dial, but I'm not sure how I feel about the case from that angle.

If that is the case, then I think that it is the worst possible watch that I have ever seen. The finishing and build quality are rubbish. The movement feels like it is lubricated with sand. It loses five minutes a day. The strap is cheap and uncomfortable.  The dial resembles one that a high party official wore in Triumph of the Will.  Also, I am uncomfortable buying a watch that is assembled by Uighur six-year-olds in forced labor camps.

Well, that's pretty much what I was asking for.  As well as just testing the waters here with a first post.  I'm honestly a little surprised people found it as I just joined.

Anyways.  It's a prototype of their upcoming release.  Right now I think the Kickstarter is scheduled for May.  I'm surprised they don't have it on their website yet, they really need to start promoting it.

The lorier is gorgeus.  Sector dials seem to be an upcoming trend right now.

It's hard to see in that photo, but the case is pretty nice.  With the twisted lugs it reminds me of a 38mm aqua terra.

There is a curated feed and an uncurated feed. New posts are easy to find if you don’t let the algorithm choose.

I'm looking forward to the review.

I like the idea of a vintage styled dressy/casual watch, but haven't yet seen one that inspired me to part with my money.

The watch looks beautiful! Any idea how can I get almost same look for lesser price? 100 dollars or so?

I haven't seen anything quite like it that low.  I'm not sure what these will be going for on Kickstarter.  But some other alternatives might be the Baltic HMS002, and some of the Vario Empires.    Both of which I think are in the mid 300s.

It looks to me like the Baltic Bicompax Pulso had carnal relations with the Vario Empire

Just sayin'...

I don’t like it.

I struggle when something modern tries to make something look old - sometimes the font just looks wrong or too clean, and I think the Axios suffers from that from the picture. I think other brands, as highlighted, have pulled this type of thing off better. However, as I often bang on about, if I want a vintage looking watch I will buy a vintage watch, and it’s usually cheaper with a decent movement and some built-in history and scarring that adds to the charm.

I don't think the proportions are right, the numerals are too small, and the case is too plain and thick. I will pick the Zodiac you have in the background over this with no hesitations.

Is it just me or do the hands look both too short and skinny for that beefy case and bezel? Lacks a bit of refinement and elegance given that a sector dial (especially in salmon!) is very much a dressy layout in this day and age.
