Hamilton Murph Auto 38mm Review

The popular Swiss watch manufacturer Hamilton is a household name in the watch industry widely known for having a rich history including supplying watched to the US and other Allied forces Navy during World War 2. To me, they represent a unique amalgamation of Swiss precision and American spirit, and combined with its history makes for an irresistible buy.

Their Khaki-field series is renowned for being one of the best automatic watch series in the auspicious under 1000$ range making them an ideal choice for beginners who are looking to start their watch collection journey. Adding to that, a watch that features in the mind-bending Christopher Nolan thriller, Interstellar?? Sign me up!!

The Hamilton Murph 42mm came out in 2019 and proved to be an instant hit. Well, except for one thing. 42mm. The ideal 38mm size (for most wrists) is an easy tradeoff for the morse-code "Eureka" on the seconds hand not to mention the 100$ you would save. Everything else from its cathedral handsets to its vintage design and alligator grain leather strap are pretty much the same.

The watch comes with the Hamilton H10 caliber that runs offers an impressive power reserve of 80hours thanks to the 3Hz frequency of the movement and a non metallic Nivachron hairspring to alleviate the negative magnetism effects on the balance. The off-white dial markings shine on the matte black dial making for a prominent design and making this one of the strongest releases by the brand this year.

However, whats best is that this piece is a testament the brand actively listens to the consumers and delivers where needed :)

Great review. Just adds to the case I already have to acquire one next year.

Super nice watch. I would’ve pulled the trigger if it had a date on the 6. i know I know, it wouldnt look as good, but I’m just a date-kinda-guy. 38mm is perfect

Good review. I have a particular liking for Hamilton. They were originally made about 40 miles or so from where I was born & raised. I've been considering another Hamilton (currently have 5) and the Murph is on my short list. Probably in the 43mm, but i could easily go with the 38mm

I have had my Murph in 38mm for about 2 weeks.  I really like it.  It fits well and looks great.  I love the Saphire case back.

Ever any chance they'll add the eureka on the 38mm?
