For those that have been following some of my posts I had sold all my watches (well...I guess I still had the Apple Watch! :p) and I was wanting to re-start my hunt for my one watch.
I had re-tried the BB Pro and just something about it didn't 'sit'.
I had LONG admired the white seamaster from afar but after having the blue one I felt that I'll just want to re-sell it. I didn't quite like the 'shiny-ness' of the blue dial.
A friend of mine told me that the white is far more subdued than the other color variants and so I considered it.
As SOON as I held in-hand I fell in love. For those of you who have never seen the white dial SMP 300m in person - check it out. For those that are on the fence with one, get it - it's absolutely bang on.

How many and which watches did you sell?

I had 3:
•Explorer II white dial #16570
•Blue wave SMP300m
•Rolex Submariner ‘Kermit’ Flat 4
I needed a change! 😳😵💫🤓
Great choice. Smart looking.
Lovely. I had a similar thing with the BB Pro… meh!
When I bought mine I was torn between the white vs black dial.
I finally went to the store to buy the white one and then at the last second just changed to black.
I haven’t regretted it at all but I’m sure I’d feel the same if I went with the white one too.
Great watch. Enjoy!
Looks excellent, congrats!
Congratulations! Wear it in the best of health and with much passion.

Sounds like you could have bought 5 new SMPs. Congrats!

Very true! But I want to be more “smart” with the money now.
I just cannot justify having a $10K+ watch on my wrist anymore…

I admire you, that’s a good place to be. And you picked a great one-and-done. If I had to downsize to a single watch I’d likely keep my Omega as well, but I went with the Aqua Terra. Omega just makes one hell of a tough, yet beautiful watch.
SUCH a nice watch, definitely an excellent choice for a one watch collection.

Since you had both, how does your White-Dial SMP compare to the Polar Explorer II? I'd love to hear you compare the two based on your experience and preference.
It’s a beauty! I was literally looking at one today and almost justified the spend and put in an order, but I have paused. I have one more financial accomplishment I want to hit first and then I will make this very reference my grail watch reward!

The absolute biggest thing’s were:
•The movements inside - the SMP is just far more robust and accurate (although very slightly @ +1sec/day Vs -2sec/day).
•The anti-magnetic capabilities of the Caliber 8800 is legit. I found that my Polar would get magnetized very easily. If the Polar became magnetized then the accuracy would just go out the window.
•Legibility - surprising because both white dial, both black hands, both black borders around the indices but the way Omega have done it is bang on - super, super legible. The double AR coating is really good - especially in outdoor lighting conditions.
•Small one but a big deal to me - brushed sides (vs polished on the Polar). I much prefer brushed Vs polished. Brushed everything IMO.
•I just really, really like Omega.

Thanks for taking the time to write that. I've been exploring (haha!) both of these watches.
The white dial SMP is my current stretch goal. I can see myself doing a 3 + 1 collection some day when Im older and more mature....maybe when I retire haha
Collection Distillation, thats what I call it. Highly effective, and also where watch money stays watch money- put to use in the distillation process. I've done it myself several times, not just with watches, but also with other things I collect.
I love mine - it is tough enough for my lifestyle and also looks great. It probably gets more wrist time than any other watch I own.
Great choice by my highly biased vote. The white 300 looks great and overall this is a beautifully finished watch with a very accurate movement.
Mine’s the brown one 🥴, still like it:

Amazing!! I hope you hit that target!! 👊🏼

LOVE IT!!
Stunning watch. 😯
The closest I'll ever get to it is my Casio with the slightly Omega style lugs. (Internal edge is beveled). Not as nice but not bad.
I really, really like that!
And btw....Casio is God tier.
Awesomeness 🥰
Im in minority who strongly approve of cashing out the Rolex in favor of this.
And I know of what you speak, I liked the SM way more than I thought I would when I have tried it on at a shop (They only had the black one)
Yeah this just sits so much better with me in multiple ways.
Solid choice man! I was set on buying the white but an opportunity came up to buy the green variant. I still eye the white from time to time..

Oooof!! Now that's a beauty!
Put your champion in the WRUW gallery so that we can fête it. Congratulations for a smashing buy though I am shocked to hear you sold a Kermit but hey, the heart wants what it wants, right?

I know - on paper it's such a bizarre move but here's why I sold:
I got that Kermit at an insane price (Just under $15K CAD) just as Covid started - someone was desperate to sell it and I knew what it was he had. SO....I bought it!
Soon after I REALLY hurt my back (double disc injury) leading me to be completely bedridden for about 4 weeks. Thankfully all is well now but whenever I wore the Kermit it would just mentally take me back to those days and it, for some reason made me dislike the watch completely.
Believe me man I REALLY tried but for whatever reason I just couldn't keep it :-(
Fast forward to when I sold it - I made a good $$. Put it this way.....The SMP300m was free.
The "Great White" is a really a wonderful all-around piece. It will always work dressed-up or down. I considered one of these but missed out on a great deal once. My watch fund got diverted to another great deal on a GS.
A YT video from Adrian of B&J pointed out that the AR coating on the outside of the crystal got scratched on his same piece. That's the trade-off for its high legibility double AR. Just one thing to watch out for. 😉

Yes I saw that!! So apparently, as per the Omega AD's, they somehow 'improved the AR coating'.
Something I'm watching out for - so far, so good. Fingers crossed it stays like this!
Very nice, I am jealous
