Obligatory boring introduction of a nobody.

I was 8 years old. Extremely abusive home, and church life. Met a neighbor. Wally. He just retired from the post office, and they gave him a new Rolex  Explorer.  I got to hold it and try it on. I had no idea what it really was, but its burned in my memory.  I knew someday I would own one just like it. 50 years later, family, career as a pastor, my son gave me one as a retirement gift. Its all I ever envisioned. Its way beyond just a rolex. If Wally was given a Seiko that would have been it. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and Buffet....AND their mom's could not afford this watch from me.

Sounds to me like you were somebody to a lot of people.

Welcome!

If my kids buy me anything as meaningful as that, I’ll know I’ve done a good job in this world.

It's sounds like you deserve that watch my friend, you've obviously done a lot of good in this world, so here is your well deserved reward. Wally would be proud 💯

Welcome. 👋

It's stories and watches like this that make me believe the 'One Watch Collection' can be real. ❤️

At one time, I had over a dozen watches I intended to own. I did get a few of them, but always something was not right. Once I got the Explorer and got used to the reality that I really WAS wearing the grail, I pretty much lost all interest in the latest and greatest. I am enjoy them, and I still have several that "If the Explorer didnt exist, what would I like......" But yes, a horologist can indeed be content with one watch.
