I think India will make stronger inroads to the watch market in the coming years. If they had their own Aliexpress and marketed it internationally they could overtake the Chinese in the budget end. They have been producing Miyota movements for many years. They just do not promote it much yet.
I agree with you๐ค. Labour costs are very low in India, and talent is plentiful. The only requirement is proper execution and understanding of international market demand. Consider the hMT watches shown above. This brand created mechanical watches for under $40 USD, but the only drawback is that they don't have their own movement and rely on Citizen movement (which is now out of stock), so they won't be able to produce more watches unless they begin importing more movement.
