Is my Bulova American Clipper real?

Hello guys!

I have just bought a Bulova American Clipper and I am wondering if it is real.

Instead of the Miyota big engraving on the movement, like on a Teddy Baldassarre video (attached image), mine has some tiny letters on a straight line.

Is this normal? The YouTube video is 2 years old. Have they changed the design?

While I’m no expert, it is possible that either Miyota or Bulova went with a cheaper way of marking the rotors to keep costs down, Teddy may have had a pre-market version in for review, or if you bought this second hand it is possible the movement was replaced.

I know with my Seiko, the 4r36 is the same as the NH36, but the rotors look different because the NH is the version sold to market, while the 4r is what Seiko installs into their watches at the factory with the “nicer looking” rotor. Other than that from what I’ve researched the two are the same.

Who is gonna fake a Bulova? Stay chill my friend. You obviously bought it preowned and likely they changed the rotor or the movement. What you have there looks very much like a Miyota 8215, enjoy your watch.

Hello, thank you. It is brand new, it is still having its initial wrapping. But it is not from an authorized dealer.

As Leaf pointed out, it’s unlikely that it’s a fake just due to the market it aims for, but china be out here faking everything.

I think you’re safe tho, Likey just a small design change on their end to save a dollar over a few thousand units equaling a bonus for some suit
