Wardrobe and Watches Pt. 1 (alt title: two of my hobbies)

Weather's cooling down and this week was clinic week, which meant I could finally wear a jacket. Some of you may have seen these photos on WRUW but thought I'd do a quick write up.

Monday I decided it was Mako's day. Maybe it's the M. To complement the more sporty and military looking nature of the watch I decided to go with the cardigan. The cardigan has military history, worn by the Earl of Cardigan if my memory serves.

Tuesday I felt like going more Ivy/Prep, and so I wore the Hamilton. The jacket's unfortunately not tweed but rather synthetic fibers, but it gets the job done. Also had what was closest to a penny loafer on to complete the American look.

![Image](data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg' width='240' height='320'/%3E)

Wednesday was Ana-digi day and I decided to go with the gold Casio. To up the formality slightly I went with a wool sports coat, a few gold buttons shy of being a blazer. Shoes were derbies as well to bring up the formality from loafers.

![Image](data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg' width='240' height='320'/%3E)

Thursday I went with the Skyhawk. To help me fly into the weekend...? Anyway to compliment the big watch, I went with a big jacket - a coat to be precise.

![Image](data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg' width='240' height='320'/%3E)

And finally Friday I decided to go out with a bang. My prized piece the Cartier. With a sports coat that is wool/cashmere blend to help keep me warm. The shirt also blends all the colours together.

It's not often I get to wear nice clothes anymore, and it's very not often I have time to think through my wardrobe these days. It was a fun week, hopefully I'll be able to do another write up like this in the near future! Even if it's not one for every day of the week.

The aesthetics here are great. Awesome watches to go with what seems to be a classic wardrobe. Good stuff.

Thank you very much. Still trying to figure out what the best way to capture everything is without losing focus! Also I swear I'm usually in sweats and shorts 😂

·

Like you, I love to match watches to wardrobe.  One reason I have nine different colors represented.

·

Being on WatchCrunch really heightens my feelings of being a complete scrub.

You, by contrast, look sharp.

·

Feel every inch of my being a slob just by looking at the pictures

Jolly good show, my man.

👍👍

Ah, this makes me sad.  My soul was meant to wear nice clothes at work, but sadly my temperament leads me to more blue-collar work.  I would love to wear nice clothes and match my watches every day, but I seem to be a person who ends up in the kinds of clothes that were meant to get blood on them.

Good for you my friend, your outfits and watches look great.  I'm glad there are still people in the world who care enough to coordinate these things.  Keep fighting the good fight, the kids need somebody to show them the way.  Cheers.

·

Ummm, please tell us more about that gold Casio?!

I saw a post one time saying something like "its hard to explain to people I like to dress nice to go nowhere". Watches definitely give you that urge, doesnt matter if you have a reason to dress up, you just feel like it sometimes. So I say just do it anytime!

Can still be done.

Great looking wardrobe and watchbox. You seem to master the game👍

·

There is something about mismatching as well: think Cartier tank with jeans and a tshirt.

Am I cool? No. Do I feel it? Definitely

·

Saving up the Cartier for Friday:

Sweet threads as well!

My hell and heaven is working in a hospital and wearing frumpy green pajamas every bloody day.

You can dress up casually after work. I spend much time at home between work periods and I take pleasure in putting on a shirt or such sometimes with no other good reason than that I feel like a fancy boy 🐩

Some of us are distinguished gentlemen with a sense of classic style and some of us are clowns in bathrobes with a nice watch on our wrist at 1:30 in the morning watching cartoons. I like to think I do both, but….

·

I hardly dress up anymore, but you sir looks sharp!! When I lived in the city before I was more into fashion but now I live in the boondocks , slacks polo shirt and tennis shoes are my go to 😉

also when I was a consultant I have like maybe 15-20 suits hundreds of ties and dress shoes but got rid of most of them now, just didn’t need them anymore…

Thank you very much! I'm usually in casual clothing or scrubs, so I use every opportunity I can to dress up as a "hobby". I believe you could wear nice clothes outside of work?

That’s true, and I definitely make sure I wear my watches outside of work. I just find that I don’t put as much effort into nice clothing as I used to. I’m pretty much at home or at work, so mostly I don’t bother. Basic laziness on my part.

I appreciate all kinds of styles! And cartoons are cool. 😁

Thank you. I bought two bespoke suits and found that 1. I lost a lot of weight which makes them kinda a moot point and 2. I realized I'm not a full suit guy. Slacks, polo, trainers, sounds like my typical day too. Well, chinos for me 😁

The group ZZ Top summed it up with their song "Sharp Dressed Man".

Thank you very much!

Yes, I match watches to clothes, and vice versa. I tend more towards leather strap in the colder months, and canvas during the summer. However, I do dress up for work, and the hardest thing is not to repeat the same outfits over and over, and falling into a schedule or routine. I just came to the realization that I wear a particular watch mostly on Tuesdays.

Like the 3-watch collection, I've kind of been doing a capsule wardrobe and experimenting within limits. Won't lie though I do have a few go-tos.

Great write up. Thanks for posting. For me, it’s something we don’t talk about enough… how do watches compliment / become part of our overall outfit… after all we present all of us to the world, head to toe right?? 🧥 👞 👔 ⏰

This was my most stylish take this week… 🙂

I honestly like to listen/read about why someone chose a particular combination of clothes/accessories. I guess for you the obvious thing is that everything is blue- any other reasons to choosing the outfit?

·
jonathandubosemiller

Well done! I’ve found myself wearing / not wearing certain shirt / combinations as my collection has grown. This is next level in the best possible way

Thank you, I think it's always fun to break the "rules" every now and then and try to fit a saucepan under the cuff. 😂

That's fine too! Home's where we should feel at ease, not hypoventilating due to a tie.

Right on. Great pics for sure.

I was presenting / running an event, so for me the whole outfit is about hitting that balance of being approachable with a bit of formality. I like the IWC as it’s not flashy / ostentatious but for guys who know their watches it strikes some curiosity.
