Which DJ36 dial color is the best in your opinion?

Hey! Need some help from you I guess.. I spent last few weeks considering different options from Rolex portfolio because I decided to finally add a Rolex watch to my collection, something like a gift to myself for several achievements. I tried numerous GMTs, OPs, Submariners, Explorers and Datejusts, mostly by meeting helpful people from internet forums/facebook groups, can't try them at ADs of course. Eventually I made my decision: 126234 (new ref.) Datejust in 36mm fluted bezel + jubilee bracelet. The only thing that I didn't decide yet is the color of the dial.. I narrowed the choice to three: black, blue, silver. I tried wimbledon, green, blue motif, palm motif - didn't like them for few reasons. The thing I care about the most is that I want this Rolex to be the most "classic" look I can achieve. Do you have any "experience" with any of these colors? Maybe you regret choosing one of them after some time?

Current collection: Omega Speedmaster 3861, Tudor BB58 black, vintage Omega Seamaster, Herbelin Classique, Seiko Sports 5

What would you choose in this case: black, blue or silver?

Thanks!

Blue is pretty but silver is most practical, classiest.

Blue is my pick ,but if you go classic it has to be black

·

That blue really speaks to me

I wouldn’t take the black one just because I think the other colours are more of a statement. Blue/green/silver is where I would go.

·

The blue and black are both attractive, but if you are looking for classic, I think black is the way to go.

·

Up to you and what type of style you usually feel comfortable with. But I would go for blue.

Good luck!

·

Thanks everyone! I think I made my decision... SILVER!

Went through the same decision process brother!! Literally last month lol

I think every Rolex sports model you get later or any sport watch really will be offered in black. For me, I'd rather have a black dial explorer 1 than a black datejust.

With that being said, I feel as of I've watched every silver datejust video on YouTube and in reddit and say it's the most versatile and classy. I used to want a gold champagne but it's a bit loud comparatively. I feel the silver can look nice and silvery but also in yellow indoor light or sunlight near dusk, it gives off a warmer tone giving it that more mature vintage warmth.

I'm waiting on mine now🙏

That's exactly what I think as well! And I did watch every video with a silver dial! I have seen and tried in person all dials except the silver one... but for some reason I believe that this color will be the best. Agreed on black dial, I already have 3861 Speedy and BB58, both black dials.

very nice dude. I am actually right with you there. I have been patiently waiting since 2018 to see if the BB58 will finally keep the gilt dial but get a better adjustable clasp lol. I feel like if I waited this long, I can hold out a bit longer and build around the dive watch until its ready for my money haha.

with that being said, how do you like the speedy 3861? I've consumed so many reviews this month and have been comparing it to the Zenith El Primero a384 even to just see if the I am sold on finally getting a chronograph. I really need an hour counter as anything under 1 hour is dive bezel territory to me.

Just see if they have a silver in 41 or OP/other watches like even a ladies to get a taste of color. but nothing like trying on the actual model.

I like it very much I gotta say! I always wanted a Speedmaster Pro but I was not a fan of the previous bracelet(s) + I have a 17cm wrist which makes bulkier bracelets looks bad. And this one... well, it's the best bracelet I have now in my collection. I have the hesalite version which I prefer, sapphire version has different brushings on the bracelet so beware of that. I actually saw El Primero A384 in person as well and didn't like it so much, maybe it's the case shape?

Saw a silver dial on some ladies Rolexes + oyester perpetual so I kind of know how it will look like. But you know, you always wonder if it is the right choice in the end...

Dude thank you so much for your input and feedback on your watch. I do think it's hard to go wrong with a speedmaster. However I do wish sometimes it is offered in different colors which it is they are just rare to get
