Opinions on Karl Leimon?

I was looking for budget moonphase watches and stumbled upon this by Karl Leimon. Anyone with experience wearing their pieces? How was it?

Interesting choice... Have you ever considered these vintage Seiko models (I know there are still "new-old-stock" available here and there):

I see what you did there...

I do not have any experience with them.

The genesis story on the website is pretty standard for a micro brand.

So for me, I would buy one if I liked the look, it was in the price point I was looking at and if the cost of a similar piece from a more established brand was more than 50% higher.

I honestly didn't understand what you meant. Sorry.

I have no experience with that watch, but I would be curious to know if it’s an actual moon phase. A lot of these affordable moon phases are tied to a movements calendar gear (so they have 31 positions) vs having gearing that ties to the 29.5 day lunar cycle.

If that matters to you, of course. An easy way to check if you get your hands on one is start manipulating the moon phase. If it goes full moon to full moon in 31 clicks, you know what you have.

I do not own one of their watches and am not familiar with any of their watches in person, but the reviews seem to be mostly positive, if I am remembering correctly (I think I saw a YouTube review and then read a couple of blogs on this watch when it came out a few years ago). I do not really have any moon phase watches in my collection (I am just not a fan of moon phase complication), but I would say if the price agrees with your budget, go for it.

I got a similar-looking pre-owned watch for a fraction of the cost. It's from a microbrand called "Carnot" (https://www.carnotwatches.com/products/riviera-rose-gold-white). I'm new to this site and I'll be posting a review soon, but to be honest, I feel like I should've just waited, saved a bit more $$, and just gotten Karl Leimon's Classic Pioneer (I've been wanting the rose gold case with blue hands).

Anyway, I'm assuming you're aware that both KL & Carnot watches are quartz though. I want to eventually get an automatic annual calendar watch, but these quartz ones are definitely easier on the wallet while still scratching the itch for wanting this look/style.
