To mod or not to mod.

I decided to wear my trusty gen1 monster today for the first time in a while and I have noticed that its running a little slow.  Its not slow enough that it could cause and issue but it could certainly use a service. So here is the dilemma, a service would be $200(not worth it for a 7s26) or I can swap in a regulated NH36 for like $80.  It would make it a better watch but would hurt the originality.  I am also thinking that while Im in there, adding a sapphire and kanji day wheel.  What say you watchcrunch, keep a classic and deal with the time loss, or mod it and make it a better overall watch?

Hmm…tough one…I say mod it and save the parts just in case you feel like reminiscing and bring it back to its original state … 😉

Hmm, that would be easy enough to do.  It might make me wear it more often too...

i'll say go for it. with nh36 hack and handwinding feature it is a win.

Reading between the lines I can tell you really want to mod it. 😜

Mod it!!! Better, stronger, faster!!!!

It's up to you, but if this was my watch I would keep it classic.

·

I'd definitely mod it!

You won't see the difference with the NH36 inside, and on a watch which is not used every day the handwind is a useful bonus.

In terms of originality, value and saleabilty you'll find camps on both sides of the fence.

I modded it....

I echo what Ichibunz said, upgrade it and save the parts
