DON'T USE CRYSTALTIMES USA for your mod parts

A few days ago I asked if anyone knew of any US based companies that sold Seiko mod parts. Another member was so kind as to list companies he knew about. Some international and some in the USA.

Crystaltimes USA was one of the ones listed. I checked them out and they had the part I was looking for. And, to make it even better they are located in Irvine CA, which is just a one day service to me via the USPS.

I placed my order on Saturday hoping that it would be one of the first orders processed when they got back to work on Monday. Sure enough I got an email early in the morning letting me know that had received my order and that it would be shipped out later in the day.

The emails came pretty quickly. I got this following email at 0816 hours with the tracking number for my order. The email has a disclaimer about USPS tracking numbers.

Well, being a SBO who spent over $24K in shipping and postage in 2023, I know this isn't true. In fact, there was a recent arrest in a case of someone doing the exact same thing. This hurts all people who use the USPS, not just myself and other SBOs. The case mentioned above cost the USPS; and in the long run all who use them, over $60 Million.

I have reported them to the USPS and urge all who have used them in the past to stop.

It鈥檚 been a year or so but I never had issues with CT

I didn't have any issues either.

But, that doesn't change the fact that they're using counterfeit shipping labels.

As someone who is unfamiliar with what you're talking about, I feel like your post alludes to some shady thing that CT is doing, but you don't really say what, so I still don't know what the problem is, nor what an SBO is or how that figures into things.

Click on the picture and read the disclaimer about the USPS. It's completely false. Click on the link to the case to see that it's a major issue. Read the post above yours.

Ahh, yes that makes more sense than gooogle's first guess: small bowel obstruction.

Whoa, 24k in shipping, business must be going well, congrats!

I had no idea that's what Google would think it meant.

Business is going well, thank you. I'm hoping to move from a SBO to a SMB (Small to Mid-size Business) in the next couple of years.

I've never had an issue with Crystaltimes. They have been one of the fastest shippers in the US, I have always received my parts, and their parts have always been great quality. I could care less if they put some disclaimer about reused tracking numbers that may or may not be true. If they have a part I need, they are one of my go-to suppliers, because they have always been top notch. I just wish they had a bigger variety of parts.

If you want some US based alternatives to CT, Watch-Modz is a one man show on the east coast, but a super fast shipper, and a great guy. Tokeilab is based in Cali, and he has good prices, but I'm not totally sold on all of his parts. I've had some fitment issues before, but other people seem to have no problems with his stuff.

That's fine, just don't be surprised when legitimate business have to raise prices and shipping fees to cover the cost for companies that steal from the USPS.

I really don't understand what the problem you are having is. Did you have something stolen? CT may have just stated that on their website because of one particular instance that might have happened in the past. I've been in shipping/transportation (not USPS) for 26.5 years, and I've seen tracking numbers get repeated in a couple of instances. I would guess that with third party shipping software, it would happen more often than you think, but what do I know?

Did you try contacting CT and ask them about it before posting on here? I'm not too worried about prices going up since the price of everything is up right now. I'm more worried about the cost of groceries than I am about parts for a few mods I might make for myself.

I edited my previous comment with the suggestion of a couple other US based suppliers. Not sure if you saw it.

I鈥檝e purchased several parts from Crystal Times and received everything promptly and as described. I鈥檝e also never been sent that message. Was your tracking number actually 鈥渞ecycled鈥?
