Are bracelets dressy?

I was dressing up for our national celebration today and slipped on my Baby Alpinist with a brushed and polished president bracelet. I felt it was too bling and too everyday at the same time. Felt much better after changing it to classic brown leather strap.

I know there are lots og different bracelets and watches, and combos of them. And many bracelet watches will fit a suit. But I still feel most comfortable with a leatherstap. Why?

Looks good. But shouldn’t you have a red-blue-white NATO on ”syttende maj”🧐

Gratulerer med dagen.

If I'm at a function where I get told my watch bracelet is not appropriate, I know I'm at the wrong function with the wrong people. LOL

If you feel more comfortable with the leather, I'm not gonna tell you you're wrong.

i think this combo is superb 👍

I saw a similar strap to this but with red and blue stitching not long time ago. But it was sold out when I ordered this one 😭

Nobody would have told me that today ☺️ It was all about my feeling about what suited the occation.

Takk 🥳 Norsk?

I think a cloth, rubber/silicon, or leather strap is always a better choice than a bracelet.

I have been a nato/marine national up until recently. But a leather strap has always been my choice for a dresswatch. However, I have found that a bracelet can add a lot to some watches ☺️

Sublime combo!

Gratulerer med dagen!🇳🇴

Agree, I love dressing down watches with a good leather band. Bulang & Sons and Molaquin are some of my guilty pleasures.

Talk internet.  Sorry.

First it looks awesome. I really like this watch and was about to get one when I found my perfect SARB017. This said leather is a very good versatile option. I believe it looks superb this way and really makes sense to be a bit understated.

I was confused when I first started looking at watches. To my eye, bracelets looked fancy, therefore "dressy." Then I started to learn that bracelets are considered "sporty," and leather straps are "dressy." Good to know, whatever. I pretty much never wear "full dress" when it would matter, so I've never given a thought to  strap or bracelet, and wear whatever's already on the watch.

I got 3 watches right now and plan to keep it there abouts, so straps gives me the variaty I could seek in having more watches ☺️

I have gone the opposite direction, I used to love watches on a bracelet. Now it's usually a MN, single pass NATO, or leather.

Oh i still love me some nylon 🤤 Just dipping my toe into the metal categori.

Nice nato near the espresso☕️

Thanks! I just got a Nespresso I have been overdosing on both coffee and espresso especially working from home.

·

I think reptile straps and shinny patent leather straps are very dressy.  Metal bracelets feel proper for semi formal to business casual.  Nato straps, suede, rubber etc. are even more casual.  Wear what you like and be a trend setter.

·

It depends on the watch! It can be dressy on "nicer" watches. I got an Invicta pro diver and it's so blingy! I've seen them on leather and natos that tame some of the bling factor. But I like the look of the pro diver to begin with, so i keep it on the bracelet.

·

A bracelet is dressy enough for anything less than "black tie." Bracelet+tux=gauche.

·

I think a bracelet is more sporty or sometimes blingy. A leather strap like the one you put on or a NATO makes a watch feel more rugged.

·

When I bought the green Alpinist with the wretched Seiko brown embossed leather strap about five years ago, I bought a fitted Miltat bracelet for over $100, thinking it would adequately replace the ex-works Seiko embossed aberration. It didn't.

While the Miltat fitted bracelet was quite lovely in itself, it simply did not go with the green dial Alpinist. I have regretted not putting a really good brown leather strap on the bugger for over four years now.

TTFN,

Bill

Rugged? Interesting take! I could agree on rustic maybe ☺️
