What is your favorite book about watches?

I would say my newest one is. I just love it, love the feel of the book and the rich content. This is almost the complete story of Rolex, packed inside premium covers, and written in three languages. So what is your favorite?

My two most recent reads are The Book of Rolex by Jens Hoy and The Cartiers by Francesca Cartier Brickell. Highly recommend both!

Is there a chapter on how many times they lied about their achievements?

I found this for $10 and I use the bookstore. One of the best things about it is it gives you a brief history of many many brands in the English German and French. So it’s free language lessons and a watch book.

The Watchmakers by Harry and Scott Lenga. It’s not about watches per se, but it’s the story of Harry Lenga and his brothers and how their watchmaking skills essentially saved their lives enabling them to survive some of the worst concentration camps in Nazi Germany. It’s a fast read and I found it hard to put down.

I don't have a lot, but of the ones I do Moonwatch Only is my favorite. I haven't finished reading it from cover to cover (at about half way) but the amount of nerdiness is one book for a watch is outstanding, really makes me want to get another reference book for just one watch model (I am looking at you Reverso).

For a gift, I would definitely suggest The Watch Thoroughly Revised. If I got this when I started being into watches I would learn so much so fast.

That one: Retro Watches

It's the great read for someone like me who's attracted to retro watches from the 60's to the 80's. Just browsing the table of content is making me drool when I see that there are so many brands and models of which I was not even aware they existed.

And it's not a picture album only. Here and there are some short essays about style or innovations and the description of the watches is interesting as well.

And the watches, dear lord, there were so many experiments with style, material and movement back then! A lot of the models featuring in this book could have been used as futuristic props for when Kubrick filmed 2001 a space odyssey back in 1969.

These books shared on this thread make perfect coffee table books!

My favorite is The Wristwatch Handbook - very reasonably priced and tons of great information.
