British watch makers checkpoint

Inspired by a comment from my last post, I found this website https://britishwatchmakers.com/the-makers/

I opened the website with enthuziasm, wanting to be impressed by the brits, nevertheless, I only liked a few brands from A-G: Bamford, Chrisopher Ward, Farer and maybe Geckota.

What do you feel about british watch making, and should I continue from H-Z?

The watches you mentioned are great watches to own. I have no problem with British made watches as long as the specs are there. I believe if you like or yes love the watch then buy it. If it is in your wheelhouse.

There are lots of good and interesting brands there. Taste is subjective, but I would own many of those under the right circumstances.

Thanks for the link to a great collection of watch manufacturers

This is a brilliant link thank you for posting! As a collector for just over a year now I'm keen to look at British brands since I'm British. Just about to purchase a Gekota. Likely get a Christopher Ward at some point later in the year. I was aware of a further half dozen or so brands listed but there are a few I like the look of but have never heard of.

Yes there is a bit of dross to filter out bit I would venture this site shows the UK watch industry  to be generally fit and well?

Even if its sourcing movements and parts from Japan, Switzerland and elsewhere. Who isn't these days?

I think the Brits are doing a fantastic job as of the last few years, especially Christopher Ward and Farer. I’m sure there‘s a lot more but those two are my fave! I got to see a bunch of both brands at the Windup Watch Fair NYC in Oct and loved them! They are both on my list!
