What watch brand had/has a lot of opportunities but ended up a lesser known/respected brand due to that one thing making it unkeen to everyone eyes?

For me it's bulova and invicta. They are well known but bulovas are mostly fake iced out quartz mall watches and invcita well.... invicta.

What brand do you think has start to go down the path of bulova etc? Lemme know!
