Saturday vibes with the Mt. Iwate GMT from Grand Seiko. I always get mesmerized by the intricate details on its dial. A piece that is so challenging to photograph as you need to at least give justice to its beauty.

Great photos and beautiful watch of course. I don’t mind having hard to photo pieces if they are this beauty 😂 that dial is die over.
I think my most difficult watch is an Orient I’ve had forever, it has domed hardlex with no AR coating… it’s either straight on or a lot of processing.

Thanks! Yes! Those domed crystals with no AR is a difficult one indeed! It’s like a spotlight pointed towards you 😅
I just wish these were thinner, otherwise, what a hottie 🔥
Great pictures, can I ask how did you get the depth of field in the final shot?
Anything with flat polished hands or bezels is a nightmare to shoot as they are practically mirrors. Block out the reflections completely and they go black, let em reflect light and you end up with a blown out crystal. Tricky to find a good middle road.
An example of an almost black polished bezel (after a few attempts to salvage it in lightroom 😂):

For me it was a win-win as I traded my Tudor GMT for this. Although this is more of a scratch magnet 😆

I used a 50mm f1.8 on the last shot with bokeh 😃
Yours is the Mt Iwate GMT? No, mine is!
In all seriousness, I love those Mt Iwate dials in any color. Great photos you got there!

My Mt. Iwate was snowing, yours was during summer 😉

I find the dial on the Iwate a bit challenging as I wanted to give justice to the fine brushing 😊
I miss my Doxa!
