Is it really that bad?

In the eyes of critics this sure has faced its fair share of challenges in the past few years.  Yes, it could be due to the price, movement, lack of history etc.  In the words of Anton Ego, "In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read." I've learned to enjoy the gifts that life as passed down to me.  Let's inspire instead of cut down.

To me, a watch is a watch.  They all have feelings and they all tell the same time and date.  What makes a watch, the person.  Who bought it, why did you buy it and what is the story behind the timekeeper.  As we are all faced with different challenges, we must take time to acknowledge that great companies have done great things.  We are blessed to have options, opportunities and chances to wear such timepeices.

I'm happy with this Hublot Limited edition.  I will wear it proud.

I am a proud owner of my Big Bang Limited Edition too. And yes, I get asked by a lot people why I bought this watch. The answer is simple "I like it."

I really don't understand real antipathy for watch brands, including Hublot. They are large watches so they will fall out of my comfort zone, but I have never felt the need to bash them. It is not as though they have some cherished past that they fail to live up to (Movado) or have quality issues that seem unnecessary (Seiko). I do get that the movements could be upgraded, but as a NH35 owner, I am not in a position to throw stones.

I may not be able to afford a Hublot, but I damned well respect them. Hublot isn’t afraid to do their own thing despite criticism from “experts”  and do all sorts of wild things.  Exposed bolts that aren’t made to be all straight, whacky material experimentation, hell, even 100% clear sapphire cases that could easily break if mishandled. But you know what? They try to do original things that no one eve else is trying. Their movements are also gorgeous. So when I see a review that instantly lambasts Hublot for whatever lame reason, I tend to disregard. Wear what you like and haters be damned!

Reminder, Hublot owners, that if you want a red leather watch band, I'm giving it away.  I'm surprised there are no takers.  I guess eventually someone will want it.

See the Hublot sub-site here for details and a pic.

On topic:  Hublot for me is like Invicta (of which I'm a huge fan) - some are YEAH and some NAH.

There's a saying amongst grand Seiko fans that says..."Buy a Rolex to impress your friends. Buy a Grand Seiko to impress yourself." Though true in a sense, I believe that it's much deeper than that. The same really could be said in reverse, honestly.  Some people buy a Rolex simply to impress themselves, or any other brand for that matter.

  • These objects, no matter what name is on the dial, are an extension of our personality. A form of expression. Sometimes meant for others to recognize and interpret. Sometimes intended only to gratify one's self. Either way, they are an indicator, of our sense of style. There are negative connotations associated with pretty much all brands, in one form or another.
  • I think it says more about whom you are as a person. The fact that knowing these criticisms, you were still willing to make the purchase and represent your "true self." Even in the face of adversity. Bravo 👏👏
  • Best wishes....

Enjoy, Kernit, you’ve expressed the right reason for having any watch, you like it. Looks good on your wrist!

You knew the criticism and the movements involved in some of their expensive watches, you liked the watch, you own the watch.

Respect. 🙏

·

You like it.

Enough said .

Enjoy it.

Well-written. Buying something like this to express one-self is an integral unalienable right that is sadly facing mutilation in the current western climate.

Indeed. Thanks

·

Would you ship to Singapore?

·

I wouldn't wear it, but I feel like Batman would, which makes it a winner. Wear what you dig dude 👍.

Would you ship to Singapore?

Let me look into this further for you.

I don't think we can message each other on these boards since we're too new.  I'll post updates here, give me some time to consult with the USPS.

The Portland address would be preferred, I'm sure.  How can I get the address?

You don't need to pay for shipping, I said it was free. 👍

OK, great. The need to write the OP, however, makes it seem like people's comments about the brand have left a chip on your shoulder, otherwise you wouldn't need to say it at all?

·

Let it be known!

…on the chronotriggered destroys watches poll putting a hublot up against the Apple Watch - I voted (against the majority) that we should keep Hublot and deep 6 the Apple Watch !

Us odd ducks who love watches should stick together

I mean, it should speak for itself, it's like a kiddie toy watch. No offense but it's not weird to think like that when looking at this watch, at least in an average person's stand point. BUT the big thing is if you like it very much then who cares what others think of it, right? If you care about what others might think then you wouldn't have bought it in the 1st place right, you would've bought a Rolex LOL see what I did there.....?😂 In a world where everything has become so liberal who cares about a watch that someone else is wearing anyway. That's my take on it.

Rolex : Narcissist who just wants validation of others

Hublot : Ideological weirdo

Grand Seiko : Sensible thoughtful genius

Omega : God!
