How small can a Gents watch go?

In recent years, the gents watch on a classic leather strap has gone large or even extra large. Recently, I've seen gents watches go 42 to 44mm. Let's see everyone's opinion on how small gents watches can go. Like in the past, in the not so far past, even 31mm was considered a Gents watch. How small can small be?

28mm for a rectangular watch. 34mm for a round case.

The smallest should be 34mm. That was the standard men's size for decades in the mid century.

I wore a rectangular watch that was 24mm today and the world did not end.

I rock a 28mm round watch on a weekly basis and no one’s thrown a tomato at me yet.

Other than eyesight, I don't see any lower limit.

Minimum 38 for a round one and 27 for a rectangular WITH a minumum 19mm wide bracelet...

Following 27mm wide and 6mm slim Casio DigiAna (sorry for my lousy photo) was too narrow or girly with a leather strap...

So I just bought following bracelet to it and they look purrfect together...

I will take a new photo, when I get my new 10 slots box

It was maybe hidden... Or so tiny that it became just as invisible... Or you look mainly like a lovely lady... Or you hide alone, in a cabin, in a wast wilderness... Or the world as we know it DID actually end, without we notice the GIANT difference!!

Love it. I got some of my grand dad’s old watches. They are these sizes

Totally agree

I have vintage watches that are 33mm which I will wear with a suit. In a modern style, I wouldn’t want to go below 36mm but 34 is still fair game.

As far as rectangular watches, I have a Tank Américaine medium that is 22.6mm x 41.6mm. I feel like that is about as small as I would wear and even then only for formal events. I’ve had vintage rectangular watches that were smaller but didn’t really enjoy wearing them.

The good news is that the Américaine looks amazing on my wife any time.

Love this! Thanks for sharing. I love my tank also.

IMO anything less than 36mm nowadays looks small, purely based on what’s now considered ‘normal’.

I have a couple of pieces that are <36mm but they do not get as much wrist time as modern watches unfortunately.

31,5mm vintage Oris. No issue, although I'd be hesitant to go smaller for a round case.
