MY Eddie Bauer EBTEK Beater

Taking a cue from @Aurelian that "not every new watch post needs to be just a picture and a short expression about how much you like it," I'm going to go on a bit about my Eddie Bauer "EBTEK" watch. I have had this watch for about 20 years, and it is a foundational piece of my collection. I can't remember what I paid for it, but around $100 I'd guess.

What attracted me to the watch was the color of its dial. My recollection is that back then, watches pretty much came in two dial colors: black, and white. Not exclusively, but mostly. Today it's a different story. There are plenty of dial color options available. That was not the case when I came across this watch, though. Its red dial was unusual, and really called to me. It still does. I also thought the "EBTEK" logo was cool.

Over time, I have come to regard the watch as my beater watch. With its hook and loop strap, it is easy to throw on, and stays secure on my wrist. Regarding the watch as a "beater" does not mean that I abuse it, however, just that I would choose it instead of one of my better watches before engaging in activities that might result in damage to the watch. Truthfully, though, I am not the sort to engage in such activities. 😊

Obviously, Eddie Bauer is not in the business of making watches, they just put their name on a watch that is manufactured for them. One sees this a lot, and generally these watches are not the sort of timepieces that appeal to collectors. One can make exceptions for anything, though. An Eddie Bauer watch with a sweet red dial? Yes sir.

Love the red dial. Perfectly good beater.
