What a difference a strap change can make

I was starting to fall out of favour with my 1968 Seiko 5 6119-6020. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's the best 60's Seiko I've seen, however paired with a 60's rubber 'tropic' rally strap - it was just too much 1960's.

The watch and strap looked like a prop from the TV shows Get Smart, or the Thunderbirds, or perhaps it came in the mail after I sent in a coupon from a comic book.

When this watch was made we were about to go to the moon, the world had future-fever, and everything was space-age Daddy-O. However, sadly, we're along way from that era.

I'd looked at multiple strap options, but never found anything that paired better than the black rally, irrespective of it's toy-ish look. And so I wasn't really picking up the watch that much.

In the mail arrives a 20mm deployment clasp black leather w/ white stitching, intended for another watch. As a test, I fitted it to the future-rrific (19mm) Seiko, and it was back.

The black leather strap calms it down, makes for a more mature look, and the watch no longer looks like a Bat-Watch from Hasbro.

Perhaps the cheapest, easiest way to get a 'new' watch.

(Big Deal! - I know, but where else am I going to talk about it?)

Wow!! It is a nice transformation indeed ... well done!

Having been a child in the 60's, I am a fan of the classic space-age aesthetic and will gladly take that rally strap off of your hands (providing it's 20mm) ... would give that 60's vibe to my PD1701v3 "Speedy" 😎

I have one! Yours is lovely, and working. On mine a loose screw took out the hairspring... Need to find a doner 6119.
