There is this odd concept of AI convergence. If AI writes an overly enthusiastic review, and another AI uses that review as training data, the responses may become more and more similar with each iteration. Maybe at the end only "Rolex alternative" will remain.
I had one, a quartz watch with an extremely flat case. It was a joy to wear but the band was proprietary and broke. A replacement would have cost more than the purchase price of the watch.
You really have to love the design. If you do, the watch will keep on giving. (Everything else is fairly typical for an entry-level watch.) I was a teenager in the 80s, so it worked for me. If looking at the watch doesn't give you the warm fuzzies right away, it's probably not for you.
I've never spent more than $1200 on a watch, and most of the watches in my collection are mods that weren't all that expensive. Because of my preference for tinkering, it's really not a problem money-wise.
