Sea-Gul Army One (54) Watch

At first I had no idea what this watch was about. It's a little pricier than most entry level Chinese watches around 300 USD. The texture of the dial looks interesting, and the round brass insert is supposed to mimic the base of a 7.62x25mm Tokarev, used in the Type 54 Chinese TT-33 variant, but it would have to be scaled down to fit the dial. The straps remind me more of a German Flieger watch.

The movement is an ST25, which I know very little about. I was remotely interested because I own a TT-33 variant. Yet I'm a bit perplexed as to what warrants the price point, or is it simply the case that Sea-Gull watches exceed the quality of other Chinese watch manufacturers? Or is this a blatant attempt to cash in on Chinese firearm history? What do you think?

I am impressed with the Sea-gull movements. I own the ST-19 chronograph movement and the ST-8004 tourbillion movement.  I really can't say if your new watch is higher quality.  I guess you have to compare on an individual basis against others.  I found this on your caliber

ST-25: Manufacturer Seagull Caliber Number ST25, ST2500 Type Automatic Lignes 13.5”’ Diameter 30.4mm Height 7.4mm – 7.9mm Jewels 25-45 Beats per hour 21,600 vph Power Reserve ~45-48 hours Anti-Shock System Incabloc Lift Angle Needs confirmed Hand-Windable? Thanks a lot, I basically have zero experience with Sea-Gull movements. I'm glad to hear that your experience has been positive, so far. And sorry, if it wasn't clear: I like the design of the watch, but I haven't bought it yet. I own the type of firearm that it references in its design.

It's a beautiful watch and logistically speaking, you won't need to learn a new designation for your watch if it shares it's name with the rifle.  The distressed dial is the only question for me.

Agreed, the distressed dial could go either way. It either looks distressed, or if overdone it can be gimmicky.

it's a really interesting dial, the distressed dial really works here. the little insert is the cherry on the Tokarev. I've had great experiences with the ST-19 movement's. So far zero problems
