What is Your Least Favorite Rolex?

You often hear discussion about which Rolex model is people’s favorite, but which one is your least favorite?

(for the sake of this discussion let’s not include the Cellini which seems to almost everyone’s least favorite 😂)

For me, I absolutely despise the Yacht Master II.  IMO it’s too big, the dial doesn’t do anything for me, and I don’t love the complication.  I can honestly say that I don’t think it would get any wrist time even if one was given to me.

That’s just me though, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Not even close- the Yacht Master II is gaudy mess of a watch. Of their entire catalog, if I were given one I'd find a tasteless wealthy person and sell it to them.

Can’t disagree with that! LOL

·

by the looks of it, im not a fan of yachtmaster 2 and sky dweller. dials looks too complicated for me

·

Really!?!  Not a fan of the Skydweller?  I love that watch so it's interesting to hear that opinion!

·

Air King 116900. I think that dial is a total shambles with mixed 3/6/9 and numeral minute markers. I just don't understand what Rolex was thinking with this watch.

·

YMII FTL.

·

I don’t dislike the Cellini. The bezel is actually kind of nice on it.

No watch is better than the current Air King.

I mean it. I’d prefer to have no watch than wear that hodge-podge of spare parts.

Could be controversial but I think any mens watch with diamonds on it. Personally I think diamonds make a watch look feminine.

·

If it has a date bubble or diamonds I don't like it. That doesn't leave too many models to choose from but that is okay because I'm not likely buying any (at msrp).

·

I don't dislike the Cellini, I would love to own one! But my least favorite Rolex needs to be any iced out Rolex, factory diamonds or after market, I don't care. Diamonds and watches are a big NO for me.

I'll give a pass to Nicolas Cage and his leopard Daytona (he is a legend so he rocks it like nobody else would do it 😂).

3 way tie for me between yachtmaster, Rainbow daytona and leopardskin daytona.

C'mon. If they de-iced this and left the Pearlmaster bracelet on...then it would be a fancy Datejust! 🤣  But I'd still rock that s&@t!

I'm not going to argue that watch, ha!

Yes, I'm a Rolex fanboy but that one doesn't do anything for me.

Ha!  I hadn't seen that video before...he's not wrong though!

Rolex Air-King - A Homage to Aviation

Already has been said, but my least favorite has to be this air king.

I dont like the indices in that the main ones are mirrored and the other ones are in 5 minute markings and printed. It just doesnt match and it looks like it came from aliexpress.

That being said, if i was given one for free...

·

The road rash Air King was great once they got the hands back on it.  Smooth out the sharp stuff and I would wear the heck out of that.

Wow, wasn't expecting anyone to say Daytona...that's usually a fan favorite!

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I don't really get the Daytona.  I feel like it was one of the first "but the internet told me to like it" watches; going from discounted to unobtanium in a couple of years, with no real changes.

Do you feel the same way about watches that have diamond hour markers or just ones that are "iced out?"

Hour markers I think are alright, it's not for me I just think iced out looks like sh*t. I've ranted about aftermarket before somewhere on one of my controversial opinions threads, I don't think it's a very good look for men no hate to anyone who wears one but they don't look good imo.

Interesting!  Do you prefer dress watches or sport watches?  Most of Rolex's catalog is sport watches so if you're just not into that style all together it would make sense.

Personally, I rarely get dressed up and sport watches are a better fit for my style/lifestyle.

I don't really have strong preference but I guess if I had to pick one genre it would be dive watches. I just don't like the Rolex brand. To me its the brand that people buy to show off; tell the world how well off they are rather than because they love and understand the watches. Not true in all cases obviously. I'd just rather spend my money elsewhere. So, it's not particularly the watches (although some are truly awful and far too chintzy), it's more the brand and the associated whiff of pretentious show-off. Some may be able to look past that at the watches themselves, I can't

All of them.

I think the long waiting lists have played into this further. it just makes it look like a flex that you are part of an exclusive club or that you paid above MSRP to pretend to be. Explorer I is one of very few current models that I am interested in as it feels less showoffy at least to me.

The cellini line has some stunning watches I just do not get their msr. many are in the range of Lange saxonia or calatrava territories

But if you get the Cellini and a Stella dialed OP36 or 41 and sell the OP, the Cellini is not a bad deal. Not that that would ever happen.

·

Given the number of Rolex models that come to my mind regarding a "gutter battle", it seems that the Cellinis are ranking pretty high on my tier list.😅

I really don't like the unproportional looking pieces like the Datejust 2 though. The new DJ 41 is so much better (if you're big-wristed).

·

Yacht master II. Just does not appeal to me whatsoever. Then again I'm not exactly a yacht club guy so I might not be the target audience.

·

The YM 2 is definitely a strange one

·

The one I can't have 😜
