Sandbox Seiko Mod - Still Not Feeling The Love
Mods don’t always turn into something that you want to wear every day. This is my sandbox mod where I learn new skills without having to find a watchbox home for yet another self-build. This watch started life as a Milspec Sub homage with a Bond NATO which I kinda dug but not enough to wear (3/3). I ordered a replacement bezel, bezel insert, bracelet, dial and hands to create a regular Sub homage (2/3). But the result lacked flair, was too thick, and the dial had too much negative space. I’ve settled on a Starbucks homage with a new #namoki branded dial (1/3). The case thickness has been somewhat addressed by a slimmer case back but I’m still not convinced sports watches of this size (43mm dial and 22mm lug width) and bulk (15mm thick and ~180g) are my jam. Would be interested to hear of any similar experiences and how/if they were resolved.
