Question on Chrono Hand Position

Hi,

I love chronographs, but can't stand the chrono hand default position at 12 o'clock that blocks the watch's logo/emblem.

My question is this - If I were to stop the chrono hand at 6 o'clock position indefinitely, will it damage the watch's movement? Views from watchmakers and movement experts are greatly appreciated.

I love the simple way Studio Underdog have solved this issue.

No it will not damage the watch. Some movements, especially quartz, allow you to change the starting location.

Get a Seiko chrono instead. The chrono hands always aligns at the “I” hence no covering of the logo. You get an elongated ”I” instead though 😜

Depends on the movement, but in most cases if you pull the crown out to the 2nd position, you're able to used the top pushed to advance the hand to any position you want, which as a result is the "zero" position. I own a watch brand and many of our customers sometimes accidentally move the chrono hand and ask how to reset it back to 12 😂 Hope that helps!

Wow. I didn’t know this. Does the omega speedmaster professional have this function?
