Is The Jubilee Bracelet Dated In The 2020's?

Let me start this off by saying, I'm a bracelet guy. The jubilee bracelet is my favourite to wear and gaze fondly over. The Rolex Datejust, GMT and Seiko SKX belong on a jubilee.

But you don't see too many in the wild these days. Not even on Instagram. Maybe and sadly because of the latter, the Jubilee isn't seen as retro cool or vintage fun. Lately, I can't help but think the Jubilee has become dated in 2021 and beyond.

I wear my Seiko SKX on a leather strap these days and if I had a Datejust it would be vintage and on a strap. As for the GMT goes, I'd do the same. Vintage and on a leather.

I'm hoping the Jubilee comes back in fashion sooner rather than later so I don't feel like I'm wearing flared jeans. (Oh no wait they're back now, aren't they?)

Lastly, is it possible that Rolex's overreliance on the oyster bracelet resulted in accidently pushing out the jubilee?

Am I once again overthinking it or has the jubilee become dated?

I think datejusts account for 90% of any jubilees on watches i encounter in the wild - the only other i can think of having seen is an SKX.

So in the sense of "how often do brands produce a watch with one" yes they are dated. I think also the intricacy and ornateness of the 5-piece pattern makes it stand out on the wrist way more than an oyster which is THE "bracelet" people think of when asked to imagine one.

My other wild guess would be that they simply cost more to produce? Oysters have one solid piece per link compared to a jubilee with 2-3 (depending on how it's made).

Not like all of this matters - you like the jubilee so wear it 😀 i still put them on my SKX and on some dress watches

I don’t follow fashion.

Just create my own.

Perhaps you should make them popular yourself?

Its a long time dead…

Yep, the jubilee is naff.  The oyster, too - it's appropriate for a functional working watch but not a piece of luxury jewellery.

Speaking of Jubilee bracelets, does anyone know when Rolex changed the end links from one large end link to what looks 2 end links between the case and the end of the lug? The newer version looks more integrated.
