Does it even make sense to "hate" an object or a product? You either use it or not. If you do not use it you should not even bother thinking about it. If you use it then you are either satisfied or not with it and in case of smartwatches/smartbnds/fitness trackers there are a million options. It is still possible that none will satisfy you.
For example my biggest beef with all those products is the battery. It is bad at the top and very good ones and great at the ok and mediorce ones.
Unless we are specifically talking about the Apple product. In this case are we judging the product based on the company's bussiness model or the product itself?
Bottom line they are sth else compared to wrist watches.
I tried for a while to wear a smartband on my right hand together with a watch on the left. My wife did not approve. 😅She said I looked eccentric wearing two "watches". I said I only wear one watch and a band. We argued but she won so I put it in the drawer..
End of story..
Thank you very much for the help nd suggestion. I have found one from my wife and used it a bit and i think i saw some difference already. How much does someone need to buff in order to achieve smoothness?
Wow! Nice! You seem to really enjoy them. Truth be told the pro diver line-up and a couple of other vintage diver watches are super vfm and among the best (if not the best) sub homages. The 38-39mm quarzt black one was one of the watches that hooked me to the hobby since 2021. I gave it as a gift to a dear friend
There is a huge difference between a fake and a homage. The first thing that blurs a bit the water or creates grey zones is the precise definition of the words for English native speakers and not. I am not a native english speaker so I do not fully understand by intuition the difference between a clone a fake and a replica even if I read the definition again in english in the best dictionary. Even worse for the term homage. In my native languages there are analogues to all these terms and there do not necasary cover all cases or are 1-1 equivalents.
However there some things that are just black and white and there is no room for opinions, only facts.
A product that has an identitical design and if not identical almost identical functionality and further more has the logo(s) of the real thing on it, that is an illegal, unethical product. The seller is a criminal, the buyer assuming that had knowledge of the fakeness of the piece during the transaction is also an accomplice to a criminal act/illegal transaction. The seller should be ashamed for having taken part in this transaction, assuming that she/he was not scammed.
An homage/ copycat or however else we call the vast majority of the paganis, cadisens, corgeuts, and other are legal. At least as far as I know. The question of if they are ethical or not is debeatable. If the Rolexes, Cartiers, Omegas and Co of the world have a problem with that, they can try to organize and lobby for a legal action against homages and settle this once and for all. Until then they are 100% totally legit.
For me, one of the reasons that they actually have a positive effect in the watch industry is facilitating demand and supply in terms of supply.
I think of them as the generics in the pharmaceutical industry.
Any idea on the price? I went to Laco website but it seems at the moment is only available for presale and only by invitation or sth like that...
By the way... only a German compqny would name a product after a DIN (german equivalent of ISO) norm😂
