Poor man’s grand seiko: Behold the SARB033

I recently purchased this one off of someone who imported it to my country from Japan.

It is a 2018 production and it is very well worn. A few scratches here and there, but very good condition.

Runs fine as well, +5 seconds per day. Maybe I got lucky, because I can see online on websites like calibercorner that some of the owners of seiko watches housing the 6R15 movement have deviations which can only be fixed by regulating the watch by a well-versed watchmaker.

All in all, a great watch, very solid daily runner, if it would’ve been not for the fact that my gf started wearing it. Cannot complain, looks good on her.

How many watches did your gf “steal” from you? 😂

get the timing app for your phone. open the back and look for a small pointer between a + and - . + speeds it up  - slows it down. watch has to be real close to your phone speaker. +5 seconds a day is not bad. When it runs down a bit they run slower anyway. Fast is better.

Thank you for the advice 😁

Great piece, my friend! Am craving for SARB035, but the asking prices are insane...

The SARB033 and 035 are beauties in and off themselves. This goes the same for the SNXS70 series, the SNKL40 series, the SNKL20 series, and many other similar lines of stunning beauty and build. IMHO, I'd rather not call them "A Poor Man's GS", or an affordable (insert luxury brand here). It deprecates the invaluable beauty and uniqueness that they actually are. Each time piece's value is not simply measured by its price. Value is in the eyes of the beholder, whether it's a $20 watch, or a $20k watch. Diamonds come in all sorts of carats, shapes, and sizes, but they are all diamonds. And, your SARB033 is definitely a diamond worth keeping.

Just found a very decently priced one in Japan. I will wait to see what the customs duties are at import before saying if it was worth it or not 😄

This was my first big "informed" watch buy decision. I don't regret it. I believe nowadays for the price it is asking there are better value propositions however still a perfect "One Watch Collection" in my eyes. A true GADA
