The last generation 36mm Oyster Perpetuals were better IMO. What do you all think?

The Rolex OP has never really been in the spotlight for the brand until recently with the release of reference 126000 in these striking color options. Unless you've been looking at Rolex's more affordable options in the past, no one really paid any attention to them. In my opinion, the last generation cases as seen in the reference 116000, is by far the better option, especially for those that have never considered wearing a 36mm watch.

I would agree!  Somehow, the 3, 6, 9 helps to break up the dial in a pleasing way!

Explorer vibes. I mean there is a reason why the Explorer has this 3, 6, 9 configuration. I think maybe that's what attracted me to this dial!

I think I would buy a Tissot PRX and walk out of the store with it for a fraction of the cost.  I would not subject myself to the Rolex AD bull sh*t of waiting lists and being qualified to buy their watch.

The PRX is a great watch! The process of buying a Rolex is exhausting and frustrating I agree, I’ve just been lucky with my AD. The premise of this post and video is just to discuss preference of the last generation of Oyster Perpetuals. Sorry, if anything Rolex triggers you. There are many other threads on here that cover non-Rolex topics. Hope you found the video enjoyable however!

Yeah I mean when you are showing us the 369 one compared to the new one...well you have  made your case already. Also for me seeing the light creamy blue one that some people use some store on 57th and 5th doesn't help either. Big proponent of 36mm watches. I enjoyed your video and gave it a 👍 . Would enjoy either OP ) just not in ...that blue

I like the previous gen. where they offered a white dial in 34, 36, and 39. They cut that way too short.

The white dial was possibly the best one.

I disagree with the above that the OP "has never really been in the spotlight for the brand until recently", I feel it's always been a visible part of the brand. It's no Sub, sure, but in my book it's always been a proper pillar of the brand. More casual than a DJ or DD, and for many a great entry into the brand.

Despite what many are saying, its easier than ever to get into Rolex. Unless you live in a super impacted city like Houston which only has 2 AD's. Rolex wants more new to the brand owners that are enthusiastic about the brand, and not flipping. I got my EXP2 here in CT after a 6 month wait, I thought surely 18 months to 2 years, and I had 0 history with this AD. I'm seeing reports of more and more people getting their watches quicker and quicker, Subs in a matter of weeks, not years.

It's not all doom and gloom out there.

The previous gen OP36 was the first watch I bought when I became seriously interested in watches. I feel that it wears really nicely on my 17 cm wrist.

I agree. The double baton indexes at 3-6-9 never seemed like a well thought-out and deliberate design choice. More like... placeholders.
