What a Night! Watch Crunch Meetup at Brian's (AKA "HotWatchChick")

What a freaking blast we had at the watch meet-up, folks! It was like a horological party on steroids! Huge shout-out and props to @HotWatchChick69 and @Max for hooking us up with this epic night of watch geekery. Seriously, these guys are the MVPs!. We were surrounded by an absolute treasure trove of drool-worthy watches that made our eyes pop and wallets cry. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we nerded out over every tick, every complication, and every damn shiny dial. We laughed, we drooled, and we bonded over our shared obsession for these miniature wrist machines. I mean, who knew that a group of watch nerds could have so much freaking fun together? Big thanks to Brian, Max, and the whole crew for creating a night that will go down in horological history.

Speaking of drooling, check out my latest pick up. Does it look too large on my 6 1/2 inch wrist? I think I could pull this off!

Image

It was so cool to hear the explanation; that pilots wrapped the strap around their coats, even their legs. (Thanks @VictorAdameArt) It got cold up there in those early exciting days of flight!

Image

Brian's love for watches proved contagious when his neighbors fell head over heels into the horological abyss. They're now stuck in a never-ending cycle of watch hunting, wristwatch comparisons, and budgeting conundrums. Brian may have inadvertently created a watch obsession that has consumed his neighbors' lives, leaving them forever entangled in the irresistible charm of timepieces.

Image

It looks like Max wowed them all with a mind-boggling magic trick. He made an entire collection appear out of thin air — right into his shopping cart!

Image

Wait, did Brian's dog become a watch connoisseur! That pup's nose isn't just for sniffing out treats anymore; it's now trained to hunt down timepieces. You should see it in action, rummaging through watch boxes with more determination than a seasoned collector. Move over, humans, there's a new sheriff in town, and this canine collector is pawsitively serious about building his collection!

We were so fortunate to have Brandon (blue shirt) from Habring. Habring², an independent watch company founded in 2004 by Richard and Maria Habring, has made a significant mark in the world of watchmaking. Richard Habring's expertise as a skilled watchmaker, known for his development of the split-seconds chronograph mechanism called the Doppelchronograph, has set the foundation for the brand's success. With a focus on exceptional craftsmanship and technical innovation, Habring² produces limited-edition timepieces, each meticulously handcrafted in Austria. Their watches exhibit clean and classic designs, often drawing inspiration from vintage aesthetics, making them highly sought-after by watch enthusiasts who appreciate the combination of technical excellence, traditional craftsmanship, and the brand's independent spirit.

Brandon brought us some amazing pieces to drool over!

Max also had some exciting major announcements for WatchCrunch. He wanted us to know that there will be a new ways for us to geek out over our lovely machines. Also, building an app is super easy really, a cake walk. Everyone should do it ;-).

We were also excited to have the owners of Nodus join our humble watchfest. Nodus Watches is a Los Angeles-based watch research and design powerhouse established in 2017. Specializing in ultra-durable timepieces and components, Nodus Watches seamlessly blends form and function through cutting-edge technical solutions. With each watch assembled, regulated, and tested in their workshop, their unwavering commitment to quality shines through. I got some shots of my favorite pieces!

How fun! I ran into Andrew a fellow Rolex Explorer bro. We swapped watches and shared stories about our mutual suffering from the AD! Honestly, it was fun to run into a fellow Explorer fan. We agreed both the 36mm and 39mm fit perfectly!

Image

And some more amazing watches I got to hands on, including Brian's amazing Grand Seikos.

I'd always wanted to try on an AnOrdain! Look at the beautiful dial.

The watch above was custom made by @street.credor . It's an amazing story! And of course, the Credor belong to him.

Image

Was that swatch really used by bombardiers? Now that's what I call the mile high club!

Wow what a night! It was past 10pm and we were still chatting away. I think our gracious host Brian was wondering if we would ever leave.

Image

But Nathan and I needed to drive back to LA. I'll leave you with a final shot of the table. Happy Hunting!!

(PS - please tag anyone I missed!)

Looks like a lot of fun!

·

I see no yellow bikinis!! What a bummer 😜

·

Great meeting! Sorry I’m on the wrong coast for this, but nice to wake up to the pix.

·

This sounds like exactly my dream afternoon. Chatting away about watches, drooling over each other's pieces, and drinks! This makes me wish I was in Cali or anywhere there are more WC'ers.

So far I've found one Wc'er in HK and one in SG. We're getting there....

·

Sounds like a lot of fun. Would love to find some watch meet ups like this here in the ATL.

·

Looks like an amazing time. Maybe someday there'll be a place like that in Australia 😆

·

Looks like a fun time 😎

Great to meet you as well!

You didn't meet me! I'm thousands of miles away! 🤪😉 Maybe I worded that wrong, but meant: I wanted to see the pix - so thanks for posting, and, I'd read about Brian's generous spread, so thanked him.

I comment here since Brian is a GS bro-chacho and I hope to appear at a socal event one of these days, soonish!😀

·

Just arrived back in Los Angeles after an epic 3 day San Diego event fest with the WC meet up being the Jewel in the Crown. We had soooo much fun we're headed back the first week in July!

@VictorAdameArt brought home made pies that were so crazy delicious that I'm still thinking about them. The pies were from his mother's recipe and were one of those rare culinary treats that you reminisce about later.

Image

(@VictorAdameArt )

@street.credor brought his go-to tapinade, a Seiko sushi watch (amongst others) and his infectious laughter. Here he regales @HotWatchChick69 with tales of horological conquests.

Image

(@street.credor & @HotWatchChick69)

Image

I first met @AlohaBrah21 at WindUp San Francisco and he's just one of those people that you feel like you've known forever. Watches are just one of the many interests that he's well versed in. Great guy!

Image

(@AlohaBrah21 & @FlatteryCamp)

Here is @Max sharing updates about the WC app, what's in store for the future and displaying the proper steering wheel technique for driving while wearing a sponsor's watch.

Image

At one point there were about 25 crunchers present and I wish I'd spoken to each and taken more pictures. @HotWatchChick69 and his wife Molly were welcoming and gracious beyond measure.

I don't regret for even one minute not putting out my watches because that was more time I got to spend seeing other collections, making new friends and catching up with old ones.

Image

Maybe next time!

Image
Image

My lovely wife Rebecca and I spent the next few days playing tourist. The San Diego marathon, Zoo, Balboa Park and Old Town made the cut.

Image

The Inn at the Park was old school plush and was within walking distance of many attractions with Jimmy Carter's Mexican Cafe just across the street. Highly recommend!

Here are a few Zoo pics to close out this thread. I'm hoping to see more pictures posted from Juan, Wes and others that I missed. Thanks to everyone who made this unforgettable!❤

·
Max

Just talked to Peter @TimeToDesign to finalize details.

I'll sticky a post at the end of June where I will supply a hidden link to the JM website where crunchers can place their order 👍.

@Ichibunz Thanks for your patience! To echo what Max said, we will be opening that up at the end of June! We can't wait to launch this with the WC community.

Definitely a party foul on my part! I got sidetracked stuffing my pie hole, drinking Japanese Whiskey and meeting new people. I'm hoping to host an L.A. area gathering around August at a local brewery and will of course share the details as they firm up. Would love it if you can attend.
