What Were Your Favorite Releases from Watches & Wonders?

My top three favorite new models (that I would actually wear) are:

  1. Vacheron Constantin 222 (in my DREAMS, lol)
  2. Cartier Tank Louis Cartier Black and Gold
  3.  Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 Salmon Dial

Honorable mention for the Tudor Black Bay Pro too, although it's not one I'd buy for myself.

How about you guys? What were your picks for the best releases?

I'm with you on #1 and #3.  There are a few vying for my 3rd spot, the Parmigiani Rattrapante, the green Moser, the Journe Automatique, the platinum Day Date, and a few others.

Oh, and basically anything from Van Cleef and Arpels.

·

I like the BBPro. I haven’t had the chanse to test it yet. To see if the thickness is a problem or not. If not I wait until they come out with a Polar version.

The ProPilot I did tried on yesterday. Not the salmon but the blue and the gray. I liked the blue from pictures but in the flesh it was a bit of disappointing in combination with the titanium case. A bit dull. I’m sure the salmon pops.

That VCA Lady Arpels Heures Florales is something else, wow!

That's too bad about the dullness of the Oris watch in person - I need to go find a salmon dial one and see if that's also the case.

Oh, and a white Polar BB Pro would be epic!

so there are two categories …

what I like that I actually afford…

  • black bay pro - I think it looks awesome. I think the thickness is over blown. It’s classic and funky and sporty - love the way they did the lume markers and hands - I actually want to get this
  • Oris pro pilot in grey - this is definitely a head turner - if I wore this among non watch friends I know they would love it. it’s futuristic but subtle enough to wear every day.
  • doxa white pearl forged carbon - so good - lumed dial - would love to own this too

the ‘no way I will ever see one in person, let along own category’…

  • the vacheron 222 - just jaw dropping. super 70s vibe. just gorgeous! Bracelet is amazing, proportions amazing, subtle ques through light contrast amazing
  • both Grand Seiko constant force tourbillon, as well as the diver they came out with - they killed it everywhere
  • PF gmt - I love  Parmigiani Fleurier one of my favorite brands - super unique idea of hiding the gmt hand

thanks for my TLDR recap

My favorite watch from the show was the Cartier Masse Mystérieuse,  but that is well beyond my means. In terms of watches that I could actually afford, Cartier once again had my favorite, with the new lacquered Santos Dumont in either rose gold or SS (I can't decide which I prefer). The Tank and the Pasha Grille were also winners in my book. It's funny how tastes change - a couple of years ago, I would have thought of many of the Cartier watches as being hideous, and I have no doubt that many people still do.

·

My top 3 are

  1. Cartier Tank Louis black (same as your no 2)
  2. Rolex Air-King
  3. Atmos Infinite

For the first 2 I am even on the list yet :) But what really annoys me is that Cartier is absolutely not revealing which crystal (mineral or sapphire) is used... They even don't know in the Cartier Boutique.

·

Well, I boiled everything down to 2 finalists.  Couldn't decide between the 2 of them.  Agonized a sleepless night, tossing and turning, unable to come to any conclusions.  Finally, at the crack of dawn, I walked into my garden, and in the early morning light, I could see our fish pond...  it was rippling, ever so slightly.  Tiny wavelets were lapping back and forth, and I knew...  I KNEW... the SLGA015 Kuroshio Current or "Black Wave" was my choice.  I have put down deposit, and the first one to arrive to my dealer shall be mine.

Hands-on Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Diver Spring Drive 5 Days SLGA015

I think, were it not for that early morning vision, and the $238,400 price difference, I would have gone with the SBGD209.

Excellent picks! That Doxa has summer written all over it.

I love that I’m seeing Parmigiani Fleurier mentioned more and more these days - it feels like the brand was relatively unknown for a long time (esp. in the American market)

Agreed, the Cartier Mass Mysterieuse is extraordinary! Cartier nailed it this year - but I’ve always been a fan and rarely dislike anything they do.

·

My favorite watch (that I could actually buy) is the Baume et Mercier Hampton 10672 (on Milanese bracelet). I want to see that one in person and maybe buy it.

Cartier nailed it this year.  The Masse Mysterieuse is mind boggling.  The Tank Louis Cartier looks amazing. The Tank Chinoise has just become my grail… just ever so much out of reach.

I never even knew about this one - it looks great!

Congrats on putting down a deposit on the SLGA015 Kuroshio Current! She's a beauty

More importantly, when are you going to change your handle to Seikonut? 😉

i can’t shake the Hermès Arceau Le Temps Voyageur - whimsical, functional, brilliant

Whimsical, functional, and brilliant are the perfect ways to describe Hermès watchmaking these days!

That's so strange they won't tell you! But, it must be sapphire, no? Especially since the TLC case is 18k gold.

That’s the thing with Tanks. Quartz  Tank must are equipped with a sapphire crystal, while all Tank Louis are equipped with a mineral crystal even the ones that were presented last year.

I didn't realize that Cartier used mineral for Tanks - I knew that was the case for some other models because of the curves, but I'm surprised about Tanks LC. Even after so many years in this business, there's always something new to learn! Thanks @Pascal

·

I thought it was really cool to see the creativity with the first two:
1. VCA Lady Arpels Heures Florales
2. Cartier Coussin

The watch that caught my eye to maybe buy someday:
3. Oris Pro Pilot X Calibre - Salmon.
However, like others have mentioned, I might need to see that color specifically in person first.

A thing of beauty and refinement. 'nough said

The Cartier releases were pretty much bang on! The Oris Pro Pilot X looked awesome and the JLC Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948 was beautiful!

·

I can't believe no one mentioned IWC! My favourite watch from the event is the 41mm Top Gun Ceratanium Chronograph. Finally a non-limited edition ceratanium model in a smaller case size. It is exactly what I have been waiting for ever since they issued the 44mm ceratanium double chronograph in 2019. Can't wait to see it in person for a look at the dial as well as the dark-tinted case back.

My other favourites include the Tudor Black Bay Pro and Tag Heuer Solargraph (just not the price).

I have to be honest, I haven't been paying much attention to IWC recently - I used to be obsessed (3714 for the win!) but then everything felt too homogenous for a while. I'll have to give the new releases another look, thanks for the reminder!

So many votes for Cartier and Oris this year!

I think there is an element of availability bias in my response. I love the Grand Seiko Constant Force Tourbillon bit I'd never be able to afford it. Whereas the Cartier releases and the Oris Pro Pilot X, I love the look of, they're in a price range that is not way over the top and by accounts they'll be available.

Great choice with the SLGA015! Look forward to seeing some photos once it arrives :)

Vacheron Constantin 222 - stunning timepiece!

Nevertheless I'm more drawn to AP Royal Oak design - my white dial / precious metal GMT RO scratches easily though

I love the Royal Oak, great choice!

·

It bothers me a bit that the platinum day-date now comes with a fluted bezel :(
Don't get me wrong, it looks good, but I liked the systematic approach of President w/fluted = gold and President with smooth white metal bezel = platinum.

·

Im really feeling the salmon oris, but at that price range there’s just so much more I can put my hard earned money into. or I can just get the Oris lol
