#1WC - The Sekonda 1579 is the perfect choice to win the 1WC

On Day 11 of the 1WC you must create a post (not WRUW) about your watch using the #1WC hashtag. You must explain why your watch is the perfect choice to win the 1WC. You must also explain which Disney princess or villain would wear your watch.

Well, alrighty then, here it is.

The Sekonda 1579 (or Sekonda Gudex) is the perfect choice to win the 1WC because it's not like any other Sekonda or any other watch, even though it looks like all of them rolled into one.

It's cheap, oh so very cheap, and light, and after 11 days really quite uncomfortable if you haven't taken it off even once for those 11 days, but I imagine every watch will be uncomfortable after 11 days if you never take it off. I haven't tried this experiment before because I'm not some kind of savage with only one watch, but should you be in that position, you should try it out with a Sekonda 1579. At first you won't be aware of it, but I assure you that after 11 days it will be the only thing you will be thinking about.

The Sekonda 1579 has no lume, so you won't know what time it is on the 17 trips to the toilet you make every night, and as a consequence, you will sleep later and later until eventually you start waking up mid-afternoon sometime after Loose Women has already aired. I class that as a bonus.

The Sekonda 1579 will also make you amazingly popular to the opposite sex, increase your libido, and if you twist the bezel without it jamming, you will get three wishes from an Irish Genie named Roger. That's what it says in the instruction manual anyway, or it would if it came with an instruction manual. I think I was sold this watch by the same guy I once swapped my cow with for three magic beans.

If this watch was a Disney Princess, it would be Mulan because although it's nice to look at, it's just a clever disguise and it may not be what you think it is.

Mulan would so wear this watch, and her enemies would tremble before it. The strap colours would match her skirt too.

I've never actually seen a Disney movie other than several Marvel ones and one of the horrible new Star Wars things, but having checked through all the available Disney Princesses, I thought this one was the hottest, and my Sekonda 1579 is hot!

All good points well put, if you keep of the monster & the sheep, you will only need 12 wees in the night 🐑

Or you can move the watch and fasten it real tight, that helps too. 😳

Are you going for reverse psychology here, or do you just enjoy being a masochist? 😂 You make the Sekonda sound as though it lacks any redeeming features whatsoever!

·

Not sure I'd pick this over a Casio Duro to be fair.

Well said

I am also a Sekonda-ist and require frequent nocturnal emptying. Is it a brand thing or age?🤔🚽

Redeeming features are overrated.

Smoking post🔥. Sekonda was my 1st choice for this even put a new battery in it, till the evil of Amazon. Only 17 trips to the loo, you lucky lucky boy.

This post is hilarious. But it's no joke that the 1579 looks great on your arm. But also, how ABOUT that little beauty with the leopard-spotted strap in the background?

That little beauty is an 03429 from around 1992. According to rumours, this model was one of the last USSR made quartz Sekondas (albeit in the transition period where the factories removed USSR from the dials of Russian watches when they still had no idea what to call themselves). A previous version had straighter lugs and was made by Raketa. The 03429 continued to be made in Hong Kong and is still going today as a Chinese made version with minor changes and a new serial number (and an update with a date complication). At the time of manufacture, it was Sekonda's best selling watch and everyone seemed to have one. A gold-plated minimalist dress watch was an easy gift for so many occasions, and a nice everyday watch for not much money. They were usually £14.99, but often on sale for £9.99 or less.

I had to rescue this one even though it's only a 34mm watch and as small as a Casio F-91W. The original strap was absolutely worn through, with the fixed keeper ripped off and the wrong buckle (a very cheap rose gold one) in place of the normal unbranded Sekonda one. It was a shame because it's really comfortable feeling (flexible and soft) and has the old Sekonda logo embossed on the underside. I replaced it with a German leather leopard print strap because it's the only 18mm one I have with a gold buckle to match. I'll get a more "normal" one soon.

Thank you for this information. (This is important stuff.) It's amazing you have such a background on the history of this watch. I am a little disappointed though, that the leopard print is not the original strap. The modern Chinese version should include one.
